I happen to be cleaning my 2003 Series 3000 Cub Cadet this morning....
when I noticed grease ABOVE the trannie filter....
this scares the crap out of me , because I think the shaft seal is leaking....
last summer I replaced both front and rear crankshaft seals... not a fun job that took me 1 month
and doing it outdoors in the sun.... only place I could work on it.
Anyways.... anyone ever seen a trannie seal go from the shaft ?
I suspect the entire body shell must be removed ....
Fluid is down 1 qt. from May and probably 65 hr.s of use.... so I guess it could be worse...
Any tips appreciated.
Pete

Just had a thought.... is it possible that fan sucks up trannie fluid from leaking filter ?
I suppose it is worth it to replace filter, and watch to see if leak persisits....
