Hello all, I'm the happy:D owner of a 2008 GC2610 and was looking around at the manuals avail. I found that the service manual is offered for $72.81 and the parts book is another $27.18...At near $100 :mad:for the both of them I ask the question are they worth it? Are they that valuable to own? I have done all my service for many years on my different tractor, cars and trucks, so what's the groups thoughts?

Ya, it's too bad Massey doesn't offer free downloadable versions like Deere does on their site. Are you listening Massey?

I purchased the service manual, and think it's worth it. Shows you how to pretty much tear down and repair any part on your tractor. Nice 3-ring binder, good illustrations and pictures, worth it if you plan on keeping your tractor for the long haul IMO.

Do they offer that for ALL equipment, or just the compacts??

Are parts & service down loadable too?

Ditto the "It's worth it" comments... I started buying factory manuals several vehicles and 20+ years ago. In every case, they've paid for themselves very quickly. After that, it's all gravy....:)

Manual prices have kept going up, however- I think I paid apout $65 for the factory manual for our 1987 Colt Vista, then $95 for the '93 Voyager, $135 for an '04 Toyota Matrix, $150 for my '05 VW Jetta TDI....

Still feel it's money well spent, if you have some mechanical ability. At the very least, with a bit of homework, you can talk to the dealer and know what's what. (And what's NOT!)

My GC2310 was no exception. Over the long run, and I tend to keep my stuff a long time, the money for the manual is peanuts.

Sounds like a good deal to me. I paid $85 for my MF 1040 service manual in 1986. It looks like they have gone down. I find that the manual is handy during the years of service the tractor has given me. When you really need it, it will be worth its weight. On the other hand it is a MF and my 1040 has never had to go to the dealer, I have been lucky and it has been durable!
