I order a Service Manual for my YM1700 .A Friend of mind order one for his 1700 from some one else. We don't have the same book.What is the right one.

There is no right one. There are no Yanmar service manuals for gray market tractors in English, only manuals made up by American users or similar US versions.

One has YM195 and one has YM240 on it.

YM195 was the 'Americanized' version of YM1700. YM240 was the Americanized version of the next larger tractor, YM2000. These latter two differ from YM1700 only by, basically, a few mm larger cylinder sleeves, a water pump added, and larger tires specified. So a YM195 manual published by Yanmar-USA is a near-perfect match for your YM1700. (and its written in native English). A YM240 manual is a very close match to your tractor, the difference of water pump/no water pump and tire size etc shouldn't be a problem.
