Service / Repair manual (cd) on E-Bay for 4100 ser

Checking out the bargains on e bay and noticed someone has John Deere CD repair / service manuals for 9.95 and 9.95 for shipping. I wouldn't mind having one but paying as much for shipping as the article just goes across my grain. Anyone have such a cd and is it as good as the written material? I didn't check what the dealer gets for their copy but I can imagine it is quite a bit higher. The ones on the net must be a copy but I see there is a JD logo on the disc. Comments anyone?

I have the CD manual for my 4110. It was about $70.00 if I remember correctly. It is very well done, and in .pdf format.

You can easily print out the section you need, or the whole thing, 700+ pages!

I did not know they had manuels on Cd so I called up my dealer and asked for one for my 4110 he said no one has ever orderd one so he had to look it up and call me back $110 is what he came back with /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif and that they are hard to get here in Canada /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have made several Copies for different guys and the only charge was cost of CD and shipping. Believe it or not but some guys never even paid that. I figure if they need money that bad, OK.

Pretty easy for you to admit that you are BOOTLEGING a copyright protected CD. It is people like you that make the cost's go up for honest people /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif.
If I were a moderator I would delete that post that offers to break the law, but I am not, so all I can do is type my opinion.
And that what it is, my opinion, and it is probably worth to you what you paid for it! Oh, I forgot, you don't like to pay for things...

Kennyd; I don't mind paying for the cd. I think the price is more than right. What I don't like is being held up on the inflated value of shipping. I know it doesn't take ten bucks to send a cd through the mail in a manilla envelope. List 18 for the cd and 2 for shipping ( which is more than adequate ). The final price is the same and it puts the item in the right prospective. I guess we beat this enough... sorry I brought it up. Just a quirk I guess.

KennyD, in today's world of "shave every nickel of cost out of the operation" you are almost forced to buy a service manual because of the limited and wrong info supplied with most purchases today and when you call "customer service" it is usually someone in India reading from a script that has probably never even used the product they are giving advice on. I think when I spend $20-30,000 on something it should included the operating, service and repair manuals. The last Dell computer I bought didn't even include an operating system disk!!!! They included a paper disk that looked like a CD with the statement "the Window's operating system has a restore feature that eliminates the need to ever re-load the system files", what a bunch of B.S. . Give him a break, the price of your manual is not based on the number of illegal copies made rather it is set by some marketing putz that doesn't have a clue.

The E-Bay disc is an illegal copy; stolen material, etc. I've E-mailed Deere & E-Bay to that effect. I bought my CD from the dealer for about $45 and it is awesome, about 800 pages of everything about the tractor with lots of color diagrams. Hydraulic circuits, electrical circuits, how to re-build the Yanmar diesel, the works.
As far as the E-Bay shipping cost, it's way to list the item for less money and still make out. Back when I examined E-Bay for a service disc the starting price was always $20 with shipping undefined. When we ship items we sell on E-Bay the minimum amount we charge is $5. That gets you 3 day Priority shipping with delivery confirmation. You'd be surprised how many buyers "never got their package" until USPS E-mails them with delivery date & time. That shuts them up quick.

The 4110 CD from the dealership was $70+ this past spring.
Overall pretty good but unfortunately the wiring diagrams are not accurate; wiring on the machine is different the manual states; colors do not match. Does anyone know if JD has a mechanism to update its pubs? Sure would be useful..
