Once upon a time I could buy dry Sevin insecticide in something like a 5 lb bag, and then load up my dust gun and go work. My Mom would put hers in an old T shirt, tie it up and dust away. Nowadays I can only find that particular product in little cannisters, usually three to a package. Anyone know where I can buy in bulk?

That is Sevin in granular form.

I suspect that Sevin dust in bulk may have been regulated out of the market.

That's my understanding also....as of a couple years ago............and kinda like D-Con in pellets for rodents. Gr-Gr-Gr-r-r

Small canisters, and half the strength at best. I rarely use it anymore because the weak product doesn't do much good on most things. I've found some better products now, like Colorado Potato Beetle Beater. That is outstanding and works on potatoes, cabbage, sweet corn, etc., and it's considered organic.
I still use Sevin for hornet nests in the ground or stone walls, so I get by with the small containers.

Sevin is tough on bees. They carry the dust back to the hive and it kills the hive. Good for hornets and wasps for the same reason, but only dust meat bait. Keep it away from plants frequented by honey bees.

Yeah I agree, you have to be careful with bees. Like you said, because of their social pattern it makes Sevin very good for hornets. A little dusted at their entrance hole is all that's needed.

It ain't so good on stupid people either. I will never forget one trip to visit my granddaddy in the hospital. The emergency waiting area was a wood bench in the main hall. There were two guys sitting on the bench. One had a head wound from a 22 and the other was beet red and in convulsions from breathing bug dust.
