After mowing I usually shake the grass off my mower by cycling the tilt lever up and down. Similar to the motion used to clear sticky snow from the bucket.

The break occurred while mowing not while shaking. The attached picture shows the result of my injurious behavior. The break was promptly welded. Fortunately, the repair was completed before I was reported to Mower Protection Services.

I broke the swivel pin off the adapter plate on my 72" rough cut, by hooking the back of the mower on a root in the side of a hole - out of which I was backing on a 30 degree hill. Had to weld a new one in, but no other damage, including to the hydraulic hoses which suspended the mower - and kept it running - down in the hole until I could shut down.

I am looking to have some sort of reinforcement welded to the single cylinder of my 422 where it connects to the "floor" of the PT and now I guess I'll look to do the same thing to the mower...although I use a leaf blower to get the debris off the mower and out of the engine compartment/oil cooler after cutting. Some areas I have get dusty when dry and it's amazing what I see fly out of the cooler and engine area after an hour or so of grass cutting!

I just use the garden hose with a nozzle on it... spray down the mower and the front of the tractor to get all of the clippings off when I am done.

I don't hose down the engine compartment, however...
