while visiting my dad on his farm he mentioned having an old post driver so we went to take a look at it, he said someone left it there about 15 years ago and he knows nothing about it.. i have sent a mail off to shaver support to get more info but wanted to show some pics of it. it needs alot of work, from what i could see the springs need to be replaced, the hydraulic remote needs to be replaced (frozen), new hoses, the angle adjust is frozen, needs alot of wd40 or liquid wrench. the toplink is broken and needs to be replaced. has anyone refurbished one of these or have one similar?

I've got a shaver post driver, from your pics it looks like it may either be the same one, or very similar. Our's has been garage kept and is in perfect condition. I'll see if i can grab some pics for you, and get get certain shots if you want.

Also, as a sidenote, I believe we might be using it in our upcoming fencing project in a few weeks, so i might grab some action shots as well.

Here is a picture of my shaver post driver. Looks to be about the same age as yours. Getting yours back into working condition shouldn't be too much work. I phoned Shaver when I bought mine and they sent me the owner's manual. I had to rebuild the cylinder and get new springs. Springs were around $50 and the parts for the cylinder were almost $200. Springs were a real pain to install. You have to remove the cylinder and it took me quite a while to get them installed. Works like a charm now. I still have trouble getting my posts perfectly level but I am getting better at it.

Yours does not have the large weight at the top of the driver like mine does. I am not sure if it came from the factory with the weight or not.

Yes. Got one just like it in about the same condition. Rust on the hyd ram will immediately eat the seal, so clean it well [smooth and lube the pits] before you move it at all cuz it may go in if you lift it. The seal may still be ok and you wont have to take the cyl apart, But be sure to invert it and flush to get out water. Sitting out like that they often get water down inside and you dont want that in your tractor.

Ok, here's some pics as promised. We remove out mount/tilt adjustment when not in use because of how we store it. The little tool pic is for holding the post in the driver.
