There is a Shaver post driver for sale at a local auction. It's set up for a Quike FEL. Is there any reason I couldn't adapt it to run off the 3ph and my remotes. I see them advertised working off of the back. I don't know if this one is made for the front or if it would be hard on the tractor 3ph. I have only seen one of these one time before and don't have any experience with one.

Shaver drivers can be adapted to work front or back. The basic driver is either a model 8, 10, or 12. The mounts differ to match the application.

I didn't pay much attention to the model number when I viewed it Sunday. It's still cheap, almost at scrap price. So I guess I can adapt it to fit the 3ph and the slamming won't hurt the arms.

If you can turn a wrench and weld, and if it is a good deal, make it fit.

The price has shot to over 600. Probably a good deal but I'm gonna pass on it.

My neighbor has a Shaver, I borrow it all the time so I have a lot of experience with it. The 3pt arms only support the weight when you transport it. When you're setting it in place to pound, you lower two mechanical feet that are attached to the pounder, then drop the 3pt so all the weight rests on the feet of the pounder. So when you pound, all that shock is transmitted into the feet and not onto the 3pt arms. I've never seen one setup to mount on the front, might make it a little easier in areas where you don't want to back right up to the edge of something, like a steep drop off. But the same idea would apply: you'd float the FEL so all the weight dropped onto the feet of the pounder.

I looked at them on a web site and the 8 was about $2000 dollars. I felt 600 was too much for one that had spent years chained to a tree outside. It need hoses and I would have to modify it for my tractor. And then not knowing if it works or rusted up. Plus 18.5% on top of the selling price.
