Kubota L2600DT (My 1st)
Hello all, I'm a newbie to TBN and I need some help. I broke the steering sector shaft where it attaches to the pitman arm. The fractured metal pieces looked as though stress had occurred prior to this failure. In the middle of the broken shaft end was new metal at 1/2" wide and to either side was rusted metal at approximately 1/4" at the widest area. There were cracks or fractures in the two pieces that were circumferential from the break. My problem is that while I originally wanted to repair the break by welding and machining it back to specs, this isn't the optimal choice due to the poor quality of the original shaft. A new replacement is $667.62 at my local dealer & $635.00 on the net. I'm not a farmer but only a homeowner. This is too much money for a breakdown. I have removed the shaft and can complete the rebuild of the steering gear box but I need a salvage or less expensive new sector. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Darryl, that's been my problem. I've searched for hours on the salvage parts sites and can't seem to find a L2600DT. I've called several places also and haven't been successful. I may just bite the bullet and order the new part soon. By the way, the Kubota PN is 32721-92300 if anyone has a friend out there that maybe works at a dealer and could help.
Thanks for the info,
Jeff

hard to believe Kubota only used that part on one model. I would try to cross reference it to see others used that same part, then look for those parts machines. Searching the by the part # in Google references several L and B models used the same sector shaft.

I've checked with them, All State AG Parts, and a couple more in Kentucky w/o any luck so far. All State in Wisconsin is supposed to call me Monday if they have the shaft or even a complete gear box. I'm still looking and hoping for a salvage part.

Update on my breakdown: I went to my local Kubota dealer, Scott Tractor in Russellville,AL, ordered the new part along with new bearings and seals for the sector. The total was $816.00 plus 9% tax. They gave me a discount for paying in full up front and my tax included total was $735.00. This saved me over $150.00. I'll pick the parts up in the morning and be back in service by tomorrow afternoon. Both the salvage yards (that had one) wanted to sell me a complete gear box for $600 and $635 but neither knew the hours of the tractor that they came from. Mine only has 532 hours so that was a no-brainer.
