I am almost done with the stone on my field stone shed (one-two bags of mortar and I am done.
but I have been able to get the sil-plate down and the corners done, so its just fill in work now.
My shed is 110'' by 110'' to the outside of the stone wall.
please let me know if I am doing something wrong or if I should rething something.
I am framing the floor in 2x6 pt, I will double frame the opening to the second floor. I will then be putting rough cut hemlock as the decking.
The second floor I am thinking about doing a 6' wall and then putting the roof on, a gable roof that will be about 8' above the second floor of the shed at its peak.I do want more of an overhang on the roof so that water doesnt get at the stone. And to protect the bees a bit more.
The walls on the second floor will be 2x4 pt, then covered with rc hemlock. I am planning to build the second floor of the shed into a bee house, where my bee hives will go into the opening in the walls with a small landing area on the outside of the shed.
Is the gable the best roof to go with? should i make trusses for the roof? if so what kind.
the span of the 2x6 pt is only 98'' (when you subtract the 6'' from each side that it is sitting on the sil-plate.) I dont think I will have a problem with that span.
