Sheep Handler

I bought this the other day for AUD$350. It's about 16 feet long and 10 foot high. Now I'm in the process of renovating it with a new coat of paint and some stragically placed grease.

It uses a hydraulic cylinder to pull cables that lift the centre cradle.

Here is the cylinder. Can someone tell me the best way to "recondition" a hydraulic cylinder?

I've been using this to remove the rust and old paint. Very tiring work on the arms and a bit dangerous when it kicks back.

Progress so far. Nice shade of blue. I reckon the goats will love it.

Extend cylinder and look for schratches. If is ok then just wash it inside with diesel fuel on both piston sides, 2-3 times, and connect to hydraulics. Then try it for leaks on rod outgoing side. I assume that cylinder hasn't bent rod.
Usually that's enough, and if no, replace seals.

Is that thing for trimming feet or what is the purpose for lifting it up? I've seen pictures of the tapered conveyors for handling sheep but not anything like this. By the way if you could point me toward any websites for sheep handling equip I'd appreciate it. I've googled but sometimes the keywords might not catch some companys.
