My 20 cal (5MM) pellet rifle will not hold pressure any more. I can't see anything obvious to repair without taking it apart. Anybody have some ideas on a fix? I'd kinda like to know where I'm going with the fix before taking it apart. It is aBenjamin- Sheridan Blue Streak CB9. It is a pump type.

Cheers
Mike

I had Gary Thiry in Sacramento Ca rebuild a Silver Streak my Dad got in the 1940's. worked like a charm after. All the seals were shot, and had to be replaced. He does a lot of air rifle work. He might sell the parts...

My Brother had one back in the 80's that was a deadly gun, the 5mm were harder to come by in the states. He ordered a rebuild kit for it in late 90's and made it like new, then it was lost in a fire.
Look online, (google it) I'm sure Amazon and or Ebay could develop leads to the parts kit.

Thanks, Robert & Spike. I hope to rebuild it myself....it's probably just some O-ring type problem....I hope.

You could try "seal swell"..... It's an additive that causes all types of seals to swell up and re seal.... I've used it in power steering stuff and it works... the leaks stopped...

Sounds like a quick fix if I could get at the seals, Dave. Think I'll try for disassembly and replace the seals first.

You don't need to disassemble the rifle.... just put a drop in the oil lube hole that lubes the air compressor tube.... Is there a felt you add oil to... I had a Benjamin air rifle and added a drop or so of oil to the felt oiler.... Also, there is a check valve that may have some stuff in it.... shoot a bunch of WD or something similar in the compressor tube to flush out garbage.. then oil... etc.... pump, shoot... pump, shoot... etc. to try and clear stuff out... Okay, what do I have to lose. I have two Sheridans. The old one is from the 70's. It has no pressure at all plus the barrel solder pulled away from the pump cylinder. Maybe I'll experiment with that one first. The newest one is a 2002 model and it is starts losing air after a couple minutes.

But everyday seems to be full of "things-to-do". Right now both rifles are laying on the front room couch.....waiting for me to get-er-done.
