Hi all,
Just trying to get familiarized with my "new" project tractor. The backstory on this one is that the previous owners heard some seriously loud, nasty noises from the engine and Got an estimate from the local Ford/New Holland dealer that made them decide to give the tractor away (to me) rather than foot the bill themselves. I haven't got it started up yet to see if I can diagnose the noise, but that remains to be seen. I think my default position is the engine needs a complete overhaul and possibly more. the dealer provided NO specifics or written estimate/quote/diagnosis.
Although I'm grateful for any advice now (and as I start into this project) what I was hoping for it that someone can tell me the significance of that "IC" and "Stiger". I don;t see that in Tractor Data and haven;t found any references to it.
This tractor is in good shape (aside from the engine...) and has a LOT of gadgets on it that I have no idea about. The right side of the three-point hitch seems to have an extra hydraulic cylinder and what appears to be some kind of position sensor. The right fender had a control panel with several controls that are all electric. There's also a "joystick" and a few more knobs by the operator's right hip.
I'm still trying to figure out the "normal" controls as well. NOT being a tractor expert, I was pleased to discover a foot throttle as well as the lever by the steering wheel, a parking brake, a clutch "lock" (I'd guess) hood release, and even a compression release. There's another pull-type control under the instrument panel opposite the compression release. Who knows what that one is?
I have a Ford manual on order that may have similar models (1710, etc. YMMV) so right now I'm just guessing, seeing what moves what, and wishing I could read Japanese....
