Hi all,

I have a JM254 with shuttle.

Does anyone have the shift adjust procedure. I have a hard time going into gear.

There are 2- adjustments, under the tractor, there is no procedure other than to lengthen or shorten the cable.,or make the linkage move the arm in or out more (looks like a turnbuckle close to the back under the tractor) Make sure the linkage is not binding at the rear where it pivots ,sometimes it will bind and cause the shifting to be hard.

Can you tell me, is the transmission shifted in one area of the case or are both pivots shifting one in and one out?

One. The mechanical sequence of the shuttle is lever->floorboard->pivot point->cable->pivot point->shuttle housing->shift. Forward or reverse selection is the only function this lever provides. The actual ground speed is selected with the second (gear shift) lever. It is a direct mechanical connection to the transmission housing (no cable).
