Shifting the RTV 900

For taking it out of 4WD, I've found that stopping, going into reverse and backing up slowly for a few feet, the lever will just slip back to 2WD.

Granted, the shifter can be a pita. My dealer told me to treat it like an old Ford pickup with a 3 speed on the column..I do and it's not a problem anymore...my wife drives the 900 a lot and initially she had problems, but now she has no problem.

On a hill, the pull knob, to release pressure is a lifesaver.

Getting off course from the original subject, I figure my brakes will last forever...I can't recall ever using them, even on hills.

O.K. Pulled the trigger and bought a 900. I've put a couple of hrs. on it and find the shifter does bind up HOWEVER its NBD. A blip of the excelerator or (if on an incline) let it roll a bit and it drops into gear. So far, I'm happy with it.

I would think the longer you run it the more you'll get use to it.As many post on here say once you get use to it it no longer a problem.Cold weather warm up time is usally what it takes along with a foot on the brake.Speed shifting is not an option, pulling and hitting the shifter will not get it done either take your time till you get it figured out.congrats on the new machine. Don't be afraid to put it to work thats when it really shines.
