Roughly how much do the dealers pay for shipping. I realize location probably comes into play so what about to Maine? I take it NH regularly delivers stuff to New England and im sure they pack a load and drop stuff off to a few dealers so roughly what can you expect a dealer to add for shipping for a new TC55d?

I can vary widly, but I would guess its probably $600-700 for a truck load shipment in that area. Tractors are not cheap to ship. The implements would be in addition to that.

Why don't you buy tractors from Amazon? They have free shippin' on any order over $50.;)

Most dealers around here try to order a full load of implements at one time from their vendors at the beginning of the season in order to lower their freight costs. For example local dealers around here would order several mowers, backhoes, and front end loaders from Bush Hog in order to complete the load on the truck. The 400 mile round trip would be priced out at around $800 for all the implements if you were charged $2.00 per mile. Like Messick said if you've only got one tractor on that trailer it's still gonna cost $800 to run that truck 400 miles. It's gonna vary.

We literaly pay 600-800 per tractor on a truck load shipment. If you got an LTL (less than load) it would be more than that. Freight costs are killer, that and steel have been the two things driving up the cost of equipment.

WOW!! I would have never imagined it costing that much when you have a full load. My heart goes out to ya... oh, and us customers too.

That is correct we currently also pay 600-800 per tractor depending on size to get them shipped in!

****! I'm hauling the wrong freight! I could get at a minimum 2 NH TC40's with loaders on a flatbed. let's see, you are paying 600-800 per tractor on a 400 mile run. That is 1200-1600 for a load. That is about $3-$4 a mile.

Let me put it to you this way.... You are a fool if you are paying that much for freight shipment. I have been hauling with a Class 8 Semi for about 20 years, and the only thing that garnished that much for a rate was a expensive trade show.

Either your broker is ripping you off or your carrier. To get $2 a mile for an entire load is more reasonable, even with high fuel costs. Only if the equipment required oversize permits (and all compacts don't) would there be an additional cost. So, unless we're talking about 20 row planters or combines, you would be well advised to negotiate your rates. Heck, Ford Motor Company would laugh a rate like that out of the door.

Flatbed freight has been weak for a while, so to get a good rate is not unrealistic.

Unless a dealer has there own trucks set up for long haul. The dealer has no choice in freighting there tractors. New Holland makes all those decisions and also applies the freight charges directly to our invoices.
