I found this hitch while ago at the trash site. Recently I chopped it up and turned it into a rifle rest. Works quite well, it was bit on the light side - that's why I attached those dumbbell discs to it. They were trashed too - the only thing I had to buy was the bubble level.:D

looks like it will work good, gotta love salvaging "junk":D

I was expecting a lazy boy in the box of your P/U, and the rifle rest to still fit in the reciever;).

Nice work:D
The only thing you might be carefull of is the full metal butt rest. With large bores and wood stocks it might actually damage the stock during recoil -- just a thought

I don't want to be negative ....

But ain't that going to be heavy carrying around in the woods? Would it not be easier to just carry the rifle?

:rolleyes::eek::D:D:D:D

Fun'n over. Look real good. Amazing what you did with someone elses trash. :eek::)

Later,

Is that the CJ7 frame we see out the window?

good eye:) my biggest current project CJ7 rear ended.

Ready to pull the engine and start putting it back together.

Yes, studor, the padding of the rest is not the final solution yet, trying to find the right rubber foam, maybe even going with a sand bag for the front support.

Sometimes you see shipments in a kind of jell pack (like the bubble wrap but with gel) or just plain bubble wrap would give you good padding. Cheap easy and just replace it when you need to:) My "store bought" rest has a couple of straps across the butt rest and a piece of foam that fits in there -- works but I still wear a "sissy pad" for high power stuff
