Buying Advice Shopping around

So, I know this is a complicated answer... and advice can range across the board... I have not had a tractor before, I have done a lot of research and it can be mind numbing...

So I have looked over all of the brand interbreeding... very interesting... with the rebranding and all, so I just can't afford to go big $$$ on Deere or Kubota, so I am looking lower than that.. and used... my problem used is I need to be able to finance, and so I need to find used through a dealer.. I believe... and... I am looking for around 29 - 35 HP range... good used depending on financing term can end up being a bigger payment than some new... Uggg...

I am on 10 acres... about 3 ish need mowed, the rest we need to get cleared as we are working on having horses, so primarily I am looking to use for Post hole digging to put up fencing, mowing, scraping drive to keep level, and front end loader work, moving stuff around... possibly some dragging of trees... as we may do some clearing of the smaller stuff our selves to save on some of the costs.

Is essentially 30 HP OK for this activity...? to I need to look more on the higher end...? I have a number of dealers close by from all different brands... so, I do have options on which way to go... I have Mahindra, Kubota, NH, LS, TYM and Kioti all near by...

Test drove Mahindra, Kitoti, and LS / TYM so far... liked them all, really liked that TYP had separate pedals for HST FWD and Rev...

Any thoughts??? / Advice?

If your going to get a loan you might as well go new and get a warranty. Kioti DK series has separate pedals also. Start feeling out Dealers with in 50 miles.

Thanks, I checked out the CK series, but didn't look at the DKs... cost was a bit more, wasn't sure I really needed to go DK over CK... what is major difference between the 2? I am originally from Ohio by the way Murph Just moved to NC about a year and a half ago...

2 whole different machines, ck is more grass cutting estate machine.

I looked for almost two years before I purchased my Tractor. I went to several dealers and drove different brands. Most people only buy one tractor during their lifetime. Make sure that your pick is what you really want. Check out the legroon;etc. Here is a website that may help in your decision. TractorData.com - information on all makes and models of tractors BTW, the Service Dept. also plays an important part. Best wishes.

I thought I was going to purchase a CK35 until yesterday when I actually rode the CK35 and a DK40. I liked the size of the CK but the DK was just alot better tractor imo. The DK will cost me $2300 more but I'll be getting a lot more tractor for the money so "Buy Once Cry Once".

Very different machines ... the DK is much bigger and heavier than the CK. The DK also has a much stronger loader.

For what it's worth, the LS models have dual HST pedals also.

For the work you are describing, 35-40 HP is probably more than enough, but the general understanding around here is that tractors shrink extremely fast ... whatever you think you're gonna buy, seriously consider getting the next size up.

Then you know what I mean.. Its a real machine not a Toy for sure.

I can't help you pick out a tractor but I would suggest getting what you want the first time around otherwise you'll be making payments for five years on something that you had to settle for.

Also you probably have more options than you may think. If you have decent credit you should be able to get a loan just about anywhere. Shop around for the best rate. All you have to do is call and tell them what you need a loan for. You can go that route if you're buying used off an individual.

You can also find good tractors at mom and pop dealerships that aren't "certified" kubota, John Deere, etc. dealers. They can probably find you financing also.

Remember that you're the one with the money and you're doing THEM a favor buying from them. Find a tractor that you like and make them make it work for you.
