Well, I am in the market for a new CUT. I've had a JD 4310 HST TLB since 2002.

I thought I'd least look at other colors. We have a strong Massey dealer nearby and admit that I really like the premium 1700's.

Any ideas where to find PDF owner's manuals?

thx

I really like my 1742 HST/CAB. Had good luck with previous 1533 but wanted to try a cab version. I love the cab and ergonomics. I did find that the hydro is a little weak when pushing snow in mid range, which is required for enough speed to roll the snow off the blade. It's fine on flats but will not push up any sort of incline. So if plowing is one of your chores you may want to stick with the shuttle shift version or at least know to test it for yourself to see how it compares to other brands. I also was told by the dealer that the same hydro is in the 1736 to 1758 so all will have the same issue. I went Massey due to the great local dealer support I have.

Thx. Good points. I am defiantly going open station which should help. I don't think I'd want to go away from HST either.

How is the pedal pressure on HST? Are they by wire or are you pushing on valves?

To be honest I haven't really looked too closely underneath but I believe there is linkage. That's how my 1533 was set up. Massey has 2 separate pedals, not the single pedal that you rock forward and back. I find pedal pressure to be about right, light but not so light that you accidentally accelerate every time you hit a bump. But they do sit a little higher off the platform than I would prefer causing me to use a couple ankle muscles I didn't know that I had. But once I got use to it I don't mind it so much. I do like the throttle being tied to the pedal so the engine idles back down when you stop. It has the standard hand throttle as well for PTO work. Not sure if all brands are setup this way but they should be. I also found that fuel filters are expesive and there are 2 but have seen many other threads on this subject for other brands as well. They say they are good for 500 hours though. Really don't have any other complaints.

I have not found that at all... You might want to check your system pressure. I typically plow snow in H range, and only kick it down to M when I can't keep momentum in H. In M, I never have any problems.

Here is my tractor pushing a very heavy duty 7 ft pusher box (made for big loaders) in relatively deep snow, the box itself weighs something like 1300 lbs... And I'm pushing in M range:

OP, I think Massey offers top notch quality. If you're shopping for a cab, I feel that the JD cabs are more "plush" while the MF cabs are more "rugged" but I feel that the materials quality of both is very high, Kubota as well. You will find that the MF cab is also much more roomy than the JD cab.

I also found that the MF premium CUT'S feel much more stable than the JD premium CUT'S.

Ok. That is genius. That and soft start PTO are things that I really feel are lacking on my current rig.

Well, Back to the original question.

Are the owner's manuals available in PDF to anyone's knowledge?

The dealer actually came out to my house to check it out and thought it seemed down on power. So they took it to the shop and cheched the horsepower and hydro pressure, I think 5000psi. They said it checked good. My dealer has been great and they recommended that I swap for a shuttle but I didn't want to lose the convenience of the hydro. They called the regional service rep while I was there and he said they all have the same hydro pump so upgrading to a 1754 would not help. I had already seen your previous posts and you seem to have much more power than I do, which I expected because you have a larger machine.
