shopping tractors

I am looking for a used farm tractor with a front-end loader, 30-50 hp, diesel. Most importantly, I would like to find a brand where parts are still available at a reasonable cost.

The tractor would mainly be used for some bushogging and light grading, plus other light dirt and gravel moving.

I would appreciate your recommendations.

dont know your budget but a great old tractor in that HP range would be a Massey 135 with the Perkins diesel - parts certainly available. Beyond that, for more money, the 2000 series Deere utility tractors are popular, parts available, and very capable machines. There are some Ford 3000 diesels around with loaders, although gas is more popular there.

Thanks for the suggestion. What price range does the Massey 135 run in? The John Deere?

A good gas 135 with no attachments starts at about $4 grand here in Upstate NY, up to perhaps $6500 for a clean later year diesel. A loader would add perhaps $1500 to the used value. Most Deere 2000 series with loader run considerably higher, close to $10 grand - but it is a bigger, newer tractor.

Welcome to TBN.
To help answer some of your questions additional info on your profile would help.
For what you describe I would think you would want a loader and a box scraper. If you have any hills and a fair amount of gravel road to maintain you might want to think about 4wd if you look at something in the smaller end of the HP range.
You might also want to see what sort of dealer or mechanic support you have in your area. You may find that a really good dealer, even on a used tractor, may sway your decision if you dont think you can do most of your own repair work.
