Well, it is a long tail, sad but true, I bought a Polaris Sportsman 500, 2004.5 in March with 23 hours on it and had an absolute blast. Awesome machine. What I didn't mention is that I neglected to share with mama that I was buying it. So, one day I get done riding in the woods around the house, park it on the driveway and go to hose it off. Along comes my 3 year old to help and with me about 1' away gets his hands on the muffler. Yup, gets burned pretty well, enough that he goes to the doctor 5 days in a row. Thankfully he is fine. But now I feel horrible and mama has to bring him to the doctor, while I am at work, and of course we have a 4 month old, needless to say I have my choice, my awesome quad or stay married.

So, I have thought long and hard on the subject, and my first thought is, keep the quad, single life will be nice, but practically I know that she will get about everything else and end up with my quad probably too. So, I think my quading days are postponed some.

Any idea what good outlets are to sell a quad? We live pretty rural so the sign at the end of the driveway will get our one neighbour and that is about it.

I have been amazed by what can be sold and how fast on craigslist. When I got my BX24 I was able to get rid of a 30 year old riding mower between the time I bought the 'bota and when it was delivered. No one would've seen a sign at end of my driveway either.

Woodbury isn't that far off the beaten track. Doesnt' I84 run right through or by Woodbury?

Anyway, try craigslist. It doesn't cost anything and there are other Polaris units for sale in your general area so you can get a sense for pricing too. classifieds - craigslist

keep the quador better yet trade it in for a sidexside sure she will tell you she's leavin but after she sits in the passenger seat or drives it she's gonna be madder if you sell it.as for as the burn well things do happen it's part of growing up. but i would try to get her involved in the riding she'll like it alot more after.

Better get rid of the lawnmower also.

Watch out, I think cars have hot mufflers too.

3 options here I think:

1. Romantic dinner for 2, preferably somewhere classy.
2. Family treat, like little holiday, somewhere nice.
3. Sell atv.

Options 1&2 should be accompanied by much grovelling,
and attentiveness to all concerned :)
Option 3, doesn't bear to think of this one.

1&2, either, or both, might do the trick.

Good luck.

I could be in this boat shortly,
I have a guy sneaking a Polaris X2 700 in from the states for me,
favourable €uro-Dollar exchange rate.

if you can't get a sidexside then get your kid a small atv and get the wife her very own atv and hit the trails. i noticed that sinse i had my rhino/hpx me and the kids have get togethers alot more often and whe wife even joins in on the fun.she acually got covered in mud a few rides ago when we found the gator but we all enjoyed getting out of the house and into nature.

have to tried taking the wife out riding on the atv? go to youtube and show her some of the videos of ladys ridin in the mud and trail riding. "atv'ing it's not just a mans sport anymore"

Sorry your kid got burned...but where does this end? Like someone mentioned....

touch the mower, get rid of it.
touch the car muffler, it's gone!
touch a hot pan? no more home cooking
pinch a finger in the door, remove all doors.
slip and fall? No more standing!!
I could go on....

sounds like she didn't like the ATV from the get go.

well all good thoughts, I think that she just didn't like it from the second I got it, she just has a good excuse to point her finger at

We are pretty far from 84 about 20 minutes or so. Craigs list is good thinking, I will give that a try. Also, folks in our area are kind of snooty, not the ATV ridin' type.

Good point about the other mufflers, there is no question she would have to pry my cold dead fingers off of my B3030

Sounds like you're giving in too easy to me?

Your child learned his lesson, he wont touch a hot muffler again. I know its a painful sore lesson, but a lesson none the less. I have a scar on my left hand from doing something almost as dumb when I was a kid. My dad had the cover off his outboard motor and I thought it would be fun to grab onto the spinning disk at the top..... that hurt. My dad did not sell the boat. I never touched moving engine parts again...

If you want and need the atv, why should you get rid of it?
needless to say I have my choice, my awesome quad or stay married.
If your wife is going to divorce you on these grounds, you guys need to talk.

If you are tired of the atv and looking for an excuse to sell it, its a win win situation... I say keep it, get your son out for a spin in the atv as soon as he's feeling better so he's not scared of it and move on, lifes too short.

Good luck with what ever you decide.
