Hi I have a Farm Pro 2010 and it kills the battery when left for a day. I removed the positive post and installed a test light to find a draw I tried removing all the fuses but the light stays on any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated thanks

You may have a bad alternator. Try removing the wires one at a time from the rear of it. These alternators have external regulators. If its the regulator get a new one from one of the dealers on this site. If its the alternator itself junk it and the voltage regulator and go to the auto parts store and buy a GM 10SI single wire alternator. They cost about $50

All you do to hook them up is get the appropriate plug, about $5 from the same parts store you get the alternator from, and run one 10GA wire from the lug on the alternator to the positive post on the battery. They have the Voltage Regulator built in and will give you about 60 amps of power versus 20 or so from the factory Jinma alternator.

By the way your 2010 is a re-badged Jinma 204. 20HP and 4 wheel drive.

Chris,
I believe the OEM alternators are only 14 amps. Not enough to even keep up with the headlights.

Yep, if it is the alternator, scrap it and go aftermarket.

Chris, I didn't know the 10SI will bolt on(or are there some mounting issues to deal with)? That is good info to know, thanks. Last I recall, the alternator used on the Mazda B2600 P/U is a direct bolton for the Jinmas. Seems the guy in oregon who jinma'd a small pickup used that alternator...

My original alternator/regulator combo is a little lower on charge voltage than I would like, but it is still working so no real excuse to upgrade yet:(

I went with a Delco 12Si (72 amp). It has the same footprint as the OEM and uses the OEM adjustment bar. And to put icing on the cake, it even uses the OEM pulley. I also did away with the ammeter and installed a voltmeter in it's place.

I don't get this part. At what point did you insert the test light? Between where and where? And was that with the engine running? With the keyswitch on - or off?

I have seen 10SI alternators put on with little or no modifications. I think it has the same foot print and as Bob said it will even use the same pulley.

You guys are probably right about it being only 14 amps. I was going off memory and we all know where that goes with age.

Yes Chris, 12Si & 10Si have roughly the same dimensions and footprint, or as the techies say, "Form Factor".

Memory? What's that??

I'm lazy as can be so when I was having a problem with the battery going dead after a couple of days on no use I just put a switch on the ground cable. Four bucks and ten minutes. No more dead battery. Definitely NOT a cure, just an expedient work around.

One other thing I have see is voltage leaking through the case of the battery. Try putting you volt meter on the battery case and a ground and see what you have.
