Hello all,
Whenever I put my BH77's stabilizers in the down position (just enough to take some of the weight off the rear tires), the hydraulic lines going to the lower end of the cylinders seem awfully taut. There's no slack at all, as if the lines are not long enough. The dealer claims they're fine, but I have my doubts. Now, after only 41 hours, one is spraying fluid. Appears to be at the fitting where it joins with the line itself. Will examine it more closely tomorrow morning in the daylight.
Meanwhile, anyone have words of wisdom for me, pretty please?

Make the dealer fix it.

Add short extensions.

Yup, I thought of that too, but my local dealer is a good distance away and I have to pay someone who has a truck & trailer to haul. Also, the local dealer is not who I bought the tractor from, so he's never too happy to do any service for me. Sad but true. Last time I had to get the area service rep to "persuade" the dealer to fix a factory problem. It was a PIA, if you know what I mean.

On the advice of a friend, I tried tightening the fitting, and it worked like a charm.

Thanks anyway.

If is is that much of a pain to work with the dealer, find what the ends of the hose are, go to DiscountHydraulicHose.com and order 2 hoses that are 6" longer. Should be under $50 which will save you the hassle and aggravation (cheaper than having someone take it to the dealer and back).
I might check routing first though. Are they routed up correctly and not hooked on something that is making their route longer than it should be.

Be aware that hoses expand in diameter and shrink in length when pressurized. (something like 3-5% depending on design) Many people make the mistake of routing hoses just so when not in use, but under pressure they are too tight.

Also, make sure you hold the hose wrench as you tighten the fitting with another wrench. If you use only one wrench you put a twist into the hose that will try to loosen the fitting every time it is pressurized.

if the fix is longer hoses, I would be sorely tempted to "request" the dealer to supply them ...I wouldn't see why the tractor has to visit the dealer.
