Shorts Story

My wife is insisting I post this one ... she's standing behind me as I type ... laughing at me ... all I'm going to say is that you should be careful getting off these darned tractors when wearing shorts. It is way too easy to hop off thinking you are free and clear and proud of yourself for another chore completed when one of those little levers reaches out and maliciously inserts itself up your shorts leg.

Apparently it looked like an attempted hand-spring off the tractor from the kitchen window.

I'm not sure which is bruised more - my head or my ego! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif (and no, my cup holder was not in use during this chore)

Patrick, I can just imagine that sight; just sorry your wife didn't have a video camera running at the time./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I don't wear shorts, and I've still managed to hang my pants on that danged mid-PTO lever and nearly throw myself a couple of times./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

I know exactley what your talking about, I had my 4100 running And I had shorts on, I exited the tratctor on the right side which is the side of the joystick for the loader. As I jumped of the tractor The joystick went right up my shorts which pulled the stick down. I never knew the loader could slam into the ground that fast. Didnt hurt anything though, but it was the last of the shorts while driving the tractor.

Like Bird, I've already managed to do this with long pants. The good news is that my 200# was more than the pants could take. Just ripped the pocket off when it caught on the 3PH lever. (dropped the box blade too /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif)

I wear shorts all the time with my JD 4100. I've gotten off both sides and have had my trills with either the HST control or DSCV grabbing at my shorts. Each time I accuse my tractor at trying to give me a trill. Fortunately, I have not had any mishaps with any of my implements. Need to be a little more attentive....

I don't wear short pants. The ticks and chiggers would eat me alive if I did not to mention wading into the downed trees to cut them up. My legs would look like someone whipped me....

BUT, my two folleys are my keychain and long winter wool coat. I have three key chains in my pockets. Can you believe that? The one that gets me in trouble is the "light" key chain that I have a red string attached. The string is usefull to pull the keys out of my pockets and I use it to when I go running and such.

I try to bury the string in a pocket when I'm working on the property. BUT that %^&*( string sneaks out sometimes and likes to wrap around the PowerReverser lever. The same thing happens in the winter when I'm wearing a long military surplus wool over coat. Keeps me nice and warm but the coat likes to grab the lever........

At least I don't have witnesses to my antics much less the wifey!!!!! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

As I was driving to work today, I was thinking about your shorts story. It occurs to me you should be happy that the ONLY place the lever went was up your leg. Otherwise, you might have qualified for a new olympic event. Tractor Jumping! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif
