SHOULD I BUY A TC30

Hello, I am looking at a 2006 TC30 with 200 hrs on it. NH loader and hydro trans. I was all ready to get it then I started reading all these post about the bell housings cracking. Should I stay away from this tractor?

The ones I have personally been involved with had to be preheated on the 4th of July to get them to start. I don't know if that is the norm or not? If it is, I don't like! Ken Sweet

Just my 2 cents, I don't find the front axle on tc30 beefy enough. I don't know if they have sub frame mount for TC-30 to beef up the chassis. That would have helped a lot with the twisting forces on the bell housing.

I have a pal who ownes a TC30 and he is very happy with this workhorse of a tractor. He does not have a FEL on his TC30. If ya want a FEL,I would move to another model.

I would need it for skidding and stacking logs. FEL and 4wd is a must. I need it under 6' wide for the woods. Any model recommendations?

I have a DX33 which would be close to a TC30. Certainly no trouble starting just with the glow plugs only. If you expect to stack and work with logs you will probably be disapointed. Just not big enough or designed for that.

xmoto---I have a TC35 NH with FEL that I use for log skidding and log loading for my Woodmizer logmill. This series of NH has a robust subframe that supports the FEL and protects the tractor drive train housing. Go to youtube and search "TC35 log skidding." The wheel width on the TC 35/40/45 is under 6'

I,however, use my tractor for multiple chores like mowiing,aeration,snow removal,and road grading. If you expect to restrict your functions to only skidding and loading logs, you may be better served with a specialized skidder/loader like a small Bobcat.

I had a ford 1715, which was the same a the TC30. Over 4 years, I put 550 hours on it building my barn and house. It did the driveway, yard, lots of lifting, and brushhogged 33 acres three times. I regularly overloaded the loader and three pt, and never had a single problem with it. It did like to be preheated (alot) in all weather, but it never once failed to start, even down to -10 °F. So after all this, why did I sell it? The only thing it was lacking was a mid pto for a mmm. I still wish I had it sometimes, it was a good tractor. Just another view point. Hope it helps.

I have to do most of the same chores. The tc35 sounds like a good match.
