Just completed shoulder on 800' ID3 asphalt driveway. Ordered 66 tons modified...used about 50 tons. Used loader to spread, box blade to level. Drive is 10' wide. shoulder about 30 - 36" wide, 4" - 12" deep. Now a little clean up and a sealcoat job.

pseudofarmer, I adjusted the box blade slightly "tail down" and set the "teeth" all the way up....used 3 pt to hold blade 1"above blacktop...."rolled" modified with turf tires and loaded bucket and weight box...trimmed edges with bucket flat...blew off asphalt with leaf blower. See my post under original for pic of box blade.

Vince, That is one fine looking driveway! I love driveways....there's just something great about a well manicured and cared for drive....and that's one of them. Excellent work.

Ever thought about a three-rail fence running down the right side (entering)? Just in case you wanted to spend some more money on your driveway /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes, I have. I believe it would be a great reason to get a 3 pt post hole digger and maybe a backyard lumber mill! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

A great looking job you've done there. Thanks for posting a picture of it.

After the fence is installed, it would then be begging for a 48" rototilled strip of densly planted wild flower mix.....easy to plant, easy to maintain (little to no maintenance) and easy on the eyes as you move about the estate. A strip of perennials would be great too, but that's a lot of thought and weeding and $$. But you probably have a full time gardener anyway, so go with the perennial idea. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
