I have a LB1914. Yesterday, I was running back and forth packing a driveway, and the shuttle shifter control broke. It snapped the bolt, so I took it apart, drilled it out and used a slightly larger bolt, I then adjusted the stops all the way in so it couldn't be "over pushed, or pulled". The tractor has 460 hours on it, and has always been hard to shift from forward to reverse.
Its worse when hot, I usually have to let a little out on the clutch and force it in gear. The hi-low, and 4x4 shift really easy.
Is this normal ? There is still a lot of play in it, could the other linkage be worn causing this problem?
Thanks.

How do some of your Kioti's shift?

Does this sound normal? Has anyone else had problems like
this?

Thanks.

Alta, The shuttle is unsynchronized and mechanical on this particular model. It is not the smoothest in the world but does work well. For a mechanical shuttle to work you have to come to a complete stop to shift from forward to reverse. At times you do have to barely let out on the clutch to get the gears to mesh right. It's not a problem just the nature of the "beast". If you broke the bolt pushing on it you may be pushing a little on the hard side /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif. Make sure your fluid levels are where they should be, I had a customer that was having trouble shifting the transmission, it ended up being low on hydro. He topped it off and never had any more trouble.

I'm not sure what your problem could be.
My DK shifts forward to reverse very easily.

AltaLawnCare, my 3054's shuttle shift works very well. I don't try to speed shift it but I bring the tractor to a complete stop, make my directional change shift, and away I go. As noted above I don't think that it's wise to force the lever. Good Luck

Thanks, everybody! ;)
Since it looks like its gonna rain all week-end, I'm gonna try to service all the equipment.
I'm gonna check the fluid level, and maybe change it out.

More shifting problems. After changing out the fluid (Kubota brand, pretty pricey) the shuttle seems to work better, but the transmission itself is very hard, especially 1st, and 2nd gear. Sometimes it gets hung in first, and I have to put the shuttle in to get it free.....
this thing is aggravating! I need to get it fixed, I don't have the money to trade it out for a JD, or Kubota! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Go through and carefully grease ALL parts you can get to. Look for rods that may be binding. I've had this happen twice on my M4700 where the range shift would bind. Sprayed on a bunch of WD40 an Fluid film and it worked. DON"T force the shift and bend the rod.
I also had it happen with my HST B7610 where a rod ran through a pipe and "hung". Again WD40 and Fluid film saved the day.

And start a new thread, this one's from 2002.

I also have an LK3054 and the shuttle shift works just fine on mine too. Only complaint is the placement of it and the hi-lo range levers. If you're in hi range the levers bump each other and can knock one another out of gear. Then again, the placement of a lot of the levers on this tractor could have been better thought out.
