Hi, I want to cut taller grass on the edge of the roadway, my CK20 and rough cut mower works well but the slope is too great to cut past the edge, to cut this area either a offset mower or sickle, I did try a 7 foot, realise it was too large for the CK20 but worked well, what would anyone recomend for a brand and size

The road crews I see use offset flails with a counter weight on the oppositie side of the tractor. Be careful.

Find yourself an old rubber-tired horse mower in working condition - you can make multiple passes on a bank with an offset hitch if you need to.

Why did you think it was too big for the tractor? Power-wise or size (weight)-wise? I always though sickle mowers were pretty lean on power requirements, and if its heavy you might be able to ballast the opposite side of the tractor. Especially if you already have or have access to the 7' for free!

The full size 7 ft mowers are not hard to turn. The problem is hanging 7 ft off to the right side of the tractor and 550 lb on the 3 point of a CK 20. These Micro mowers in the 5 ft range are designed different in the 3 point hitch and the 5 ft cutterbar will not be as apt to make your left rear tire light on the ground. Ken Sweet

Problem with the 7 footer is as described, the JD350 is heavy, designed for a tractor over twice as wide its drive and blade pivot is sitting a good 18 inches outside the tire, even with the blade vertical lifting with the 3pt the tractor leans, if you use the hitch to lift the bar there is tremendous strain on the arms, it will run it easily for power just way too heavy, looked at removing 2 foot off the width and driving direct from the PTO eliminating the belts but it would be more cost effectie to sell it and look for a more suitable sickle
