Getting old. Sold the ranch. Sold the tractors. Moved back to the city.
Been looking for one of these for nearly a year. Plan to start haying 7 acres next year.

This one appeared in Thursday's classified ads. Six foot sicklebar with hydraulic lift.

Paid $150 for it.

Good rubber on tires, drive belt and hydraulic lines. Some surface rust on the sickle bar. Paint is still good. PTO U-joints lubed and work OK. Last used about 2 years ago.

The orange color probably indicates that it was county mowing equipment at one time.

SG:

After a little research on the Web I discovered that it's an Allis Chalmers 80T or 82T mower, which accounts for the faded orange paint.

Everything seems to be working. The gusset and dual braces apparently were added by a previous owner to reinforce the bracket that holds the belt pulley on the rear of the mower.

Since it's rear-heavy, I plan to weld a trailer jack on the back of the mower to keep it level when I unhitch it from the tractor.

Better yet.. don't weld the jack on, but rather weld a nub of pipe onthere with a hole drilled thru it. I have that kind of nub on my batwing mower so I can pin or unpin a slid on jack.. or rotate it up when not in use.

TSC sells the jacks that fit the nubs... they usually have a bushing with it so it will fit 2 sizes..e tc.

Too bad you're not closer. I've got a Ford 501 I'd like to get rid of. It came with my 404 and I have no use for it...

SG: same here. Most of the neat stuff I'd like to bid on eBay is located East of the Rockies.
