Has anyone ever seen a side dump bucket for a QA compact tractor. I have been thinking for a long time that this would be really useful. I think it would have to be kept really low or it would turn the tractor over. Maybe too much side load on the FEL arms? But still it would be useful. I have a situation with a woods road in very poor soil. I put down geotextile before road fill but I still have sections where the tread area sinks. Probably old stump holes. I try to fill my bucket on one side and dump it in the tread but I still have to hand move the material around. Soon the road will be finished I will be in maintainance mode . Small loads just in the treads, 2000 ft of road. I have a diverter valve on the front for a grapple and I have some cylinders around. Would need a bucket and a full plate QA plate and some cutting and welding. Wengers in Meyerstown has a perfect bucket but it 4 hrs away.
Anyway what does anyone think

I saw them. I only have 7gpm Not enough for a side bucket like that . Also
I think it would work well for feed or gravel . I am moving fill with rocks in it.

The best thing I have found over the years is to remove the soft material and put in 2-4" rock under those sections of the road.

I had a section of road which went around a peat hole about 3ft deep and 25ft long which needed to be straightened. I dug it out and filled the hole with 2-4" rock and it is as solid as anything. Absolutely no movement or sinking under any load.

Expensive, but perminant with no repeat maintenance.

I'd be concerned with off balanced load, possible breakage or worse injury/death.

I also agree with Dcyrilc, dig out nasty stuff and replace with rock. I used a #2 crushed{that it what they call it around here} stone it links together and will hold up a tractor trailer fully loaded.

I'd think about making a chute to attach to the front of the bucket. With a little metal work you could make the discharge at any point across the front.

The PIA factor would be that you would have to attach the chute after scooping up the load. However, you could place the material far faster than you could without the chute.

If someone wanted to get real creative, they could make the chute hydraulic and hinge like a grapple. Open to scoop, then close to deploy.
