Sickle Bar Side mounted cutter for Compact L Kubota?

The boom arm mower per the manufacture needs 8-11 gpm hydraulic flow.
It could be derived from your loader connections.
However per Tractor data your tractor is only rated for 7 gpm,
so under the manufactures recommendation, it would not work the best.

A fixed sickle bar mower that can mow in a vertical as well as flat and down slope would be an easier
unit to use, it only reaches as far as the bar is long.

I have a very used New Holland 451 7' sickle mower that I run on my L3240.
I think the L3240 is very similar to your older L3010.
It was a pain to get it mounted and adjusted on my tractor, due to the cramped quarters around the 3pt hitch.
Also, I have a BH92 sub-frame which complicates the space problem.
Once I got the mounting and some mechanical issues sorted out, it's been a very successful attachment.
Much quieter and much less dust kicked up than the brush hog that I was using to cut our field.
Also cuts the same area in about half the time and leaves a much nicer looking cut.

check out the sabre samurai sickle bar mower, it is not very big or heavy and runs on the forward hydraulics. I have one I have used for years and it did well but I moved to a 7 footer. one thing that makes the samurai so good is it's only about 4 feet long but can cut as high as your FEL will raise. with a little fabrication on the mount it can reach out a long ways. the biggest draw back is the manual positioning horizontal or vertical but I have seen where someone has fab that up as well.

Thanks Lou,. Yes, I see the 8 gpm requirement and I have 7. What would that do? Slow movement? Higher RPM? I like the boom as I could cut at a 45 degree up angle thru the briars. It's too rough and rocky to let a sickle ride the ground.....

if I am understanding you correctly, you have two hydraulic connectors on your FEL that is a third function hook up. put a picture up of your tractor so we can get a better look.

I would expect that the sickle speed would be just a bit slower and you might see it slow even more as you repositioned the booms when mowing.
It would mean running your tractors engine up at pto speed to have your highest hydraulic flow and may require a slower ground speed.

Although it would up the cost if you get one and it doesn't work good enough you could add a pto hydraulic pump and reservoir to power it.
