Picked up a new car radio for my "work" Toyota (98 model, over 350k in miles).

Radio comes with bluetooth.

I can play my iTunes on the radio as well as send and take phone calls through the stereo system!

My boys think dad has a cooler car than mom's car now:D

Sometimes I think I'm so far behind the times it's ridiculous.

Needless to say, vehicles aren't on the top of my priority list. Almost proud to say I've never owned a new vehicle, so I am WAY behind the times LOL

I refuse to come into the 21st century in many areas. Electronic technology being one. I have a cell phone only because I don't have land line service. Its an old cell phone - just one step up from analog and it only makes phone calls, nothing else. It over eight years old.

Now, take a look at my son. He has a degree in computer technology, doesn't actually speak good English or at least it is sure difficult for me to understand and MUST upgrade his cell phone annually so he's part of the cool set.

I just hope he is cool enough for the two of us. I came along about the time God made dirt - - and dirt is good enough for both of us.

So says an "Elite Member" of an internet forum...

Ha,ha - yes, I saw that coming. But you have no idea how VERY long it took me to become functional with computers/emails/posting on this blog.

My son thought I would never learn - so did I, for a while.

I'm half in and half out.....sorta. I can e-mail on this huge piece of used HP hardware and post on TBN...even google up some info now and then. The old cell phone is a rarely used flip phone, but come in handy sometimes. I can see needing a new chainsaw chain or mower blades; but I don't see the need for all the rest of those gizmos. In fact I don't even see the need for or carry a watch most of the time.

I guess that's what retirement is all about.

Cheers,
Mike

Uh-huh - ain't retirement grand. I try to remember to turn the cell phone on in the evening to see if anybody left a message worth returning. Its actually in brand new like condition - it never gets banged up because it never leaves the house.

I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee for running errands etc...a few weeks ago it would crank but not start...I had no idea what was wrong (figured it was not getting either spark or fuel)...Did a little bit of searching on the net and found that the GC's have on board diagnostics (I didn't know that)...Turn the key on and off three times and it will display any error/failure codes...
Turns out it was a timing sensor that a mouse had chewed a wire on...
Great technology I did not know was there...

Actually it is more of a state of operator ignorance on my part for not realizing sooner (RTFM) the technology eliminated the need and expense of getting the vehicle to a dealer/shop that has a reader... much of the diagnostic stuff has been there since the early '80's' but only with an expensive machine/reader...My point was...the combination of the on board diagnostic display and having internet technology to educate myself on the matter...21st century tech saved me some $ and time...
This is a 13 year old vehicle...I would be much more concerned about "big brother" with new or newer vehicles...There is no way for the average pick up truck owner to know when "his truck" might be "phoning home"...whenever it passes a dealership etc., etc...!!

My daughter got a blue tooth when she and the dog collided while sledding. The Dentist fixed her up.
That's what I know about blue teeth.:D
I've had a cell phone for about 33 years now (a few months before that daughter was born), my "flip" phone suits me fine.
