any one interested in sharing silly experiences/wives tails etc we have run into over the years?? for instance; i met a guy that sold 12volt kits to convert old cars and tractors from 6volt negative or positive ground to 12 volt negative ground. while looking at the equipment, a customer was complaining about having trouble changing his ferg TO20 to negative ground, he had discharged the battery, and hooked a battery charger up to it backwards to change the terminal polarity, i thought he was joking, but after he left, the salesman said he runs into that "a lot"..

HeeHaw,

Say what!!!!

I once had a friend visting and he went out to the chicken house to collect eggs with the kids. When he came back he said "one was not done yet". (soft shelled) He thought the hen had to set on them for a while to finish them off? Both kids stood there with grins ear to ear./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

One of my wife's friends was in an auto accident and I was talking to her about the accident and she said that it had happened at a four way stop. Her idea of how to proceed at a stop sign was the woman always went first. Well she went first and another guy did and crash. I asked her what if two or three women were there and she said the first woman went first. Kinda scary the way some people think about traffic laws.

When I was a kid (pre/early-teen /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif) I "worked" summers on a farm down the road. He brought fresh-air kids up from the city. Invariably, they were stunned to discover that milk came directly from cows. They always thought the stuff from cows was just one ingredient /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif! Should have seen the looks on their faces when we drank the milk "raw" /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif.

On second thought, maybe that's sad, not silly.......

Mark, my parents used to love to tell stories about moving to Baltimore, MD, from rural Oklahoma when I was a baby. Mother said she told a neighbor about giving me warm milk promptly after milking the cow and the neighbor said, "You mean you let that baby have that milk before they put the cream in it?" Mother's other favorite was about the fruit & vegetable cart that a guy wheeled around the neighborhood, and he also sold eggs. The same neighbor knocked on our door one day to tell Mother the cart was there, and said, "He has a good price on eggs today, but make him let you pick out your own; he has some that are so old they've turned brown."

Now way in heck Iam going to share my better half silly experiences at least the great ones,/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gifand she does scan the TBN every now and than.

One day last summer she was being a smart @ss all day and I had a package of M&M's.
I told her if she was so smart than put the M&M's in alphabetical order w/ in 3 minutes once she open the package...and she tried. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif
Once she realize she had been had I got more than a /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif....one for me. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

~ 1950, working at my fathers GULF station , My brother was checking a radiator in a lady's Hudson ( the hood hinged at the front) and spit into it to disturb the the water so he could see it in the shadow. A few minutes later she called my dad, irate and wanting to know if the fluid needed changing!

About 20 yrs ago in th winter I had an elderly patient with a multitude of problems that was regulary brought in by her bachelor farmer son. As I entered the room he said, " now Mom you tell him about yer feet hurten' yah" He was obviously tired of hearing it! I went through my routine questions and exam and then, with her sitting on the exam table, I ask her about when did all this foot pain come on etc as I removed her ankle high sheep skin lined boots. Her feet were flat as fritter, huge bunions, overlapping toes and exurberant fungally infected toenails. In short, she had multiple reasons for her feet to hurt. At that point, as I checked the inside of her booties, I pulled out a small krinkled-up POTATO- This baby had been in there awhile ! I put her boots on ,sans potato, and she said the pain was gone! Her son, in disbelieve, sputtered something about " Why didn't you tell me something was in your shoe....." and starting laughing so hard he was immobilized and in tears. They had thrown potatos freshly dug in the closet that fall and one found it's way into her winter boots.

Hehaw,
That is correct. I had a TE 20 and it had a + ground (6 volt). It was a bummer when you wanted to jump start it.

i have an aquantance that had a TO-20, exactly like my first tractor; i had changed it from 6volt +ground to 12v neg gnd.; he couldn't understand why the battery didn't last, always said, 6volt batteries just won't last like a 12 volt; i hauled some hay to him one day, he had the original 6volt + ground generator, the battery had the negative side grounded; i never did convince him it was wrong..

Silly experiences, huh? When I was 16 and my Dad had only recently bought a service station, the mayor called one cold morning when his car wouldn't start for us to come out and put a new battery in it. I did; backwards; didn't know Plymouths had a positive ground. No harm done other than ruining a new battery, but you can bet I never forgot./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif
