I have a simplicity 3415s with a snowblower. I'm having 3 problems with it. First is after running awhile in the cold the throtle stops working. When you move it the engine does not slow down. The manual for the blower shows some shields for the carb and linkage but the picture is not good enough for me to make them. Second problem is the belt that drives it. It is coming off the front pully, the one that is attached to the chain drive. Even with the guide in place it has come off serveral times. Third problem is with the rod that sets the direct. There is susposed to be some kind of shim material to stop it from moving on it own. It goes inside a bracket about 1/2 way up the shaft. Any idea what it should be made of so that ice doesn't freeze it up. I moved to WI from south Texas and really don't have a lot of experience with all this white stuff. Thanks

1. See if this is the style of heat shield you're looking for. If so, there's a diagram on how to cut and make your own.

2. If you have ALL the belt guides and belt stops adjusted perfectly, the problem may be your drive belt. The factory belt has more cords in it than an aftermarket belt, making it much more resistant to turning over when making those high-speed 90-degree turns. This is one application where I've found no substitute for the factory belt that will last -- a Gates green belt will typically not last a season for me before coming off and self-destructing -- a factory belt will last for years of heavy use. If it's not the belt, it may be a bad bearing in a pulley, or something else. Suggest you spend some time digging into the info at the site above.

3. The bracket for the spout rotator is lined with a smooth, flexible piece of plastic to provide a friction fit that holds the rod yet allows you to easily turn it. You could likely make something usable out of a piece from a liquid laundry detergent jug or something. It simply clamps around the rod. Keep it lubed and it should give reasonable durability...

Hope this helps...

I'll check at my local dealer with the part numbers listed. If no help there, I think I can hammer one out now that I see where it is susposed to mount.

I'll cut up a milk jug and stick into the rod mount. Anoying to have the thing rotate backwards and cover you with snow.

I think I have a simplicity belt on it. Not the one that the book says. This one is about 1 inch shorter than the book said. Seems to stay on better than the book one.

Thanks for all your help. Little tractor has been great especially since I only paid $375.00 for the entire thing. Renting the pickup and trailer to go get it cost about 1/2 of that. So for about $500, I replace a lawn service that charged $45.00 a week and a plow service that charged $50 a occurance to do my drive. We have about 1 acre of yard and a 20x40 garden.
