Well, I "accidentally" picked up a Simplicity brochure at a show and was surprised to read about a full automotive style suspension available on some models. Anyone have one of those and does it really help?
thanks.

If you are referring to their zero turns, yes they do have a spring suspension as does the sister company z turns Ferris. I have had several of their z turns and it does smooth out the ride. I also believe that these two companies have a patent on this specific type of spring suspension on the mower frame.

I'm going to get a Simplicity lawn tractor this summer and did some looking last month. Some models do come with suspension. I didn't test drive any as there was snow on the ground. Dealer said the suspension is nice for rough yards. I'm skeptical but may test one for grins.

Here is one with rear suspension: Lawn Tractor Broadmoor | Riding Mower Tractors | Simplicity Mowers

Supposibly the mowers with full suspension were also supposed to have ground speeds rivaling the zero turning mowing machines but 6.7 mph is no speedster. I don't know about y'all but I have never found the Simplicity site's presentation of current models to be very informative and it is far less so since the Briggs take over. I miss the reference to current product numbers and direct links to manuals.

According to a couple of owners I have talked to that own newer Simplicities with the suspension, it really does help, both have back problems with one having metal rods in his back. I have noticed they do ride smoother when I take them up to the showroom after I uncrate them. I also like the whole hood other than the headlights being metal. Ferris, Simplicity, Snapper and Snapper pro are all owned by Briggs & Stratton. Cheers Mike

I test drove a Ferris ZTR on Thursday back to back with another brand. The Ferris had the full upgraded suspension of the pro/commercial models. The difference in the ride between the Ferris with suspension and the other ZTR without suspension was significant. Made me want to get a Ferris.

We bought a Ferris IS700Z two weeks ago. The suspension is very nice on our old bones. Both Ferris and Simplicity are owned by Briggs and Stratton now.
