Bucket moves, but loader does not lift. Could it be the hydraulic valve assembly? Cost for a new one is $800+. Can I repair it? Joy stick moves side to side but not up/down.

Don't know exactly what you have, but loader valves do not cost very much.

What is your hyd flow rate?

Here is a loader valve.

2 SPOOL COMPACT 10 GPM JOYSTICK CONTROL VALVE

You might be able to substitute this valve for yours.

It also has a PB port for downstream operation.

Things that could jam up your old valve. centering springs broke, crud in the lands of the spool, rust, etc

Try removing the cans on the bottom of the valve and see if things look right, and while in there, move the spools and see if they are moving equally in both directions.

Is the valve stuck in float.

Show picture of valve and manufacturer.

First thing to do is to reverse your lines between the bucket and the front end loader lift circuit and see if the loader lifts. If the loader lifts with the lines reversed your issue is in the valve itself. If it still wont lift, the issue is either the lift cylinders or one of the lift circuit lines.

Also, If you have quick connectors, first make sure they're seated correctly.

If you try to lift and the relief valve comes on, then you have an open QD/not connected correctly.

If you had a hyd gage in the hyd system, it would help you troubleshoot the hyd system.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Here's a photo of the joystick(what is it really called?). With the tractor off, I can move the joystick left and right (rollback/dump). It will not move up or down at all (raise/lower). It is stuck. I also attached a photo of valve assembly. The parts list of the fel is attached, but the valve assembly doesn't look the same as what I have. I'm a total hydraulics noobie but have worked on small engines.

Thanks!

Have you removed the lever from the valve and pushed or pulled the spool?

Your only other option is to remove the spool and check for obstruction.

I would remove the cans on the bottom first ans see what is normal.

On the raise and lower, you will have centering springs, and a detent for the float if you have float. Check for broken springs, rust, loose nut, etc.

If you remove all parts from the spool, you can remove the spool to check for debris.

If you think you are not capable, remove the valve and take it to a hyd shop for inspection and repair.

Ok, I'm ready to take this apart. I need to release the pressure. Do I just unscrew the bolt at the top of the relief valve?

Loosen the IN hose on the valve, loosen the cyl hoses.

If the cyl are up, they will come down,so be careful.

So, do you have a breakdown of the valve in case something goes wrong?

When removing the float assembly, watch out for the little balls and springs.

It's a Duke Model 1627. I have a parts diagram. I should get to it this week. Thanks for all the tips.
