Decided to buy a single arm grapple to assist moving logs and brush. Its a HLA grapple it doesn't come with the forks but attaches to any Class 2 forks.
Cost was $1300 Canadian and $200 for hoses and fittings. I ran the 17' hoses to the back remote . Used it today and didn't I break a quick release fitting. Much quicker to move brush around.

Didn't you notice where you posted this?? This is TBN where you have to have a "mean looking" grapple to pick up brush!!

Congrats on your new grapple, you will love it!

Interesting. Ive often wondered how well that type of grapple would work. I have considered one for moving and gathering logs for firewood. Please post other uses you find for it as well as your thought on it.
Congrats

There are a thousand uses for that type of grapple, in fact I much prefer it to a dedicated grapple, it's just so much more versatile...

You can see a LOT of uses for one in my old post and I bet you the OP will find even more...

They are fantastic for handling logs,

You know the big rocks that just will not fit in the bucket . Logs . We have pigs and often store / move veggies in old bath tubs . Tubs are always sliding around on the forks. Not going to anymore. My only concern before I bought them was we have a, lot of apple bins to move around . Thought that the grapple would be in the way but hasn't yet.

Nice addition to your forks. I went with a similar thumb for mine. Bought two base mounts so I can switch the thumb from forks to bucket. It was about 1/2 the cost of yours and I also used a rear remote to operate it.

This looks very interesting also. My forks are the tall type also with the protective cage (for lack of better words) above where the forks attach and I have been thinking of how I could attach a fork grapple like the OP posted. This looks simple and clean. I like how it can be used on the bucket also.

Sawyer Rob, do you have a link to your post or the title of the thread you are talking about. I tried searching but came up with nothing

Rasor, can you post pictures of the plumbing you did and how you routed it. I bought something similar from cotech: Cotech

I still need to do the plumbing and also plan to use the rear remotes.

Thanks

Saitcho.... I will get some pics
It was a toss up between the Cotech and Horst I got .
Cotech was $160 more and it wasn't guaranteed to fit my Horst forks. That bright yellow claw is some sharp looking.
I ran my hoses along the loader asrms with the bucket hoses and then under the tractor as there was no room to snake 2 hoses through.
I tied them on top of the arms that go back to the rear axle. Then up with the other existing hoses on top of the rear axle to the remotes.

Not happy yet with the set in the front as hoses are a little too long and drag on the ground sometimes. I might see if I can rotate the fitting on the cylinder to lift them up Or build a rack to support both hoses from the tractor loader frame.

Every day I find a new use for the grapple.
I moved my 6 ft snow blower with it the other day .
side the forks under and clamped the top.
Off I went.
And also unloaded 14 pallets with out positioning them.

Nice indeed.

I have 2 sets of forks, watching SR's posts over the years had me thinking about converting 1 of them to this style. I think this post has "cemented" the plan for me.! I love my grapple/root rake, and each type can do certain things that the other can't, having both tools would be ideal.
