Now I need to have my sinus issue addressed. I'm 43 and have had severe sinus issues all my life. Rarely can I breathe through my nose. Most of the time I'm 95% stopped up. I decided last year to take some time and get some much need repairs done to carry me through the second half of my life. I have been investigating endoscopic sinus surgery. Anyone here have it done? Did it help? Any and all experiences welcomed! Thanks a million.

I can't help much; never had sinus surgery. A co-worker had his sinuses overhauled many years ago and spent a few days in the hospital (as people did for almost any surgery back then) and it did fix the problem so he was glad he had it done, but I have no idea exactly what kind of surgery it was in those days. It would be my guess that you'll also be glad later that you had it done.

Yes, I,ve had it done, and should have done it ten years sooner.
Everyone warned me about how great the pain was going to be when I woke up, boy were they wrong, when I actually woke up, I had absolutely zero pain, and could finally breath thru my nose again. If I remember correctly, I had polyps that were restricting air flow. It,s been great now for 10 years or so.
Get it done, you,ll love being able to breath thru your nose again.

I was impressed how many feet long of cotton I pulled out of each nostril.

The procedure may have changed, but My FIL had it done 20 years ago. This is what he told me. He said that they put him under and inserted hot wires in his nasal passages and cleared them. The Doctors put Packing where the Wires had been. The packing was left in for a few days and then removed. My FIL told me that this hurt like H**L. He also told me that the packing Stunk like H**L also. Like I stated, the procedure may have changed. Best wishes.

Had it done some 15 yrs ago ?? The way it's done today maybe a lot different than it was done 15 yrs ago. but, It's the best thing I've ever had done.. I never knew how much better I could feel just to be able to breath. B-4 the surgery I always had a sinus infection. These days. After I had the surgery,I could probably count on 1 hand how many sinus infections . When I do get a sinus infection it doesn't last very long. I would highly recommend the surgery to anyone that has continued sinus problems/ infections

My Dad had a sinus procedure done about 15 years ago.

During the procedure, the doctors took routine biopsies. Some of them came back with a rare form of cancer, which normally is not detected in time, and almost always fatal. The chance finding allowed them with extensive surgery, to remove the cancerous tissue and bone, saving his life.

He looks normal now. And, he no longer has sinus issues. But, that is because he no longer has sinuses. Which means he has no olfactory system, so he cannot smell. He also lost much of his ability to taste things.

All that sucks. But, it sure beats being dead.

I had septoplasty done to correct my deviated septum and then balloon sinoplasty to open up my sinus passages. This was done about a year ago. Wish I had done it years ago, but balloon sinoplasty wasn't available then. I used to get sinus infections regularly and constant headaches. I was always stuffed up and woke up with my sinus passages plugged solid. Breathing was difficult a lot of the time. This was well worth it. I have not had an infection in a year and headaches are gone also. My sinuses do not plug up and breathing is more normal. It was all covered by Blue Cross and the recovery was no big deal. Well worth checking into if you have sinus problems.........

I had it done, turbinator reduction and removal of many broken bone fragments from when I was hit across the bridge of my nose while playing varsity hockey. The result was good but I ended up with a hole across my septum, possibly because I had been trying to get the scabs off the septum and nasal passages prematurely. I can't say for sure but my surgeon did roll his stool back pretty quickly after doing a postop inspection, with a weird expression on his face. then he asked me, after a pause if I'd been putting anything up my nose, and I paused, then said, 'you mean anything beside my finger?! O realized later he was asking if I had been 'powdering' my nose, which I hadn't. They said they could fix it but it would require more surgery, and they would put a 'button' (rivit) in the hole! NO thanks!

Overall the op helped, but beware that one's sinuses, as I understand it, continue to grow as we age, so what works today may need an update 10-15 years down the road.

Good luck, and don't stick anything where it doesn't belong!?

Get it done. Have problems with mine. Had the choice to get it done about 4 years ago and postponed. Always "stuffy" etc. Have been told I snore terribly. Long story short lost job and health insurance and now cannot afford to get it done. Also have gallbladder problems that I let go. Again no insurance. You never know what tommorow will bring so get things fixed as the problem arises. Think of it this way. If your tractor needed some maintenance would you postpone and "pay more later" or pay less today, live a better life and as Larry the Cable Guy says. "Get r done".
