Siromer 204s siromer 204E
Hi guys

Has anyone fixed lifter seals on a Siromer 204E?
I've removed all items for access and found the
barrel/cylinder has come away from the casing
therefore the hydraulics are inoperative.
My question is, how does the cylinder locate and
stay in position. The seals have not popped out
from the cylinder, it's actually the cylinder that
has moved out as I've said. when I investigated
further I noticed a liberal coating of sealant trying
I suppose to hold the cylinder in place, alas this
didn't look right!

Hi Jonny

I have an older 204 in bits in our shed at the moment, so will try and have a look tomorrow and let you know. From memory the 3pt linkage piston is basically the same on the 204 & 204E - I think it pivots, so must be held by a pin or similar...

If you need a quicker answer try re-posting in the "chinese tractors" forum here on TBN and mention that it is the same as a Jinma 204. Also you could try calling Louise or Kath at Siromer...

Hi Ian

Already have, spoke to Brent, says he's not done
one yet!
When I opened up the casing found that the cylinder
was out by about an inch or so, looking forward into
the valve body there was an awful lot of sealant, I
think for the quick fix??

Jonny - I took a look today at the 204S we've got. I was wrong before - the cylinder (16 on the attached diagram) is fixed to the cylinder cap (14 - located outside of the oil housing). I cannot see how it is fixed, but I assume you have checked that there is no obvious thread designed to screw into the cylinder cap?

My guess is that maybe the cylinder is tapered to push fit into the cast brace in the centre of the oil housing - when the cylinder cap is bolted to the outside of the housing it then tightens against the cylinder to hold it in place. This would also explain the copious amounts of sealant you can see at the back of the cylinder, as it will need to seal tightly against the cylinder head to avoid oil escaping...

If this doesn't help, please post pictures to give a better idea of what you're looking at...

Hi mddorange and thankyou for the welcome.

Again hi Ian

I'm sorry not to have got back to you sooner
I've been out all day hunting.... olive and almond
with my trusty husqvarnas bagged loads!!!!

I'm off to Blighty monday for a week, so will get back
to you hopefully with some info and photos.
Your 204 s and I have one as well seems to be different
upon initial inspection in as much the seals are totally
different for starters.
Just to let you know I've had my 204s for 11 years (2004)
apart from theusual minor ailments such as water pump,
hoses genny belt, alternator and starter motor, the little
fella has been amazing considering the abuse he's been
put through.
This 204E wasn't to replace the little fella, it was to give
him a rest from all the heavy work asked of him, I intend
stripping him down come spring and totally overhauling him,
including paint job.

Keep in touch
regards

Hi again

Got to the bottom of the problem.

When I purchased the tractor I didn't try out the 3pl as the arms were in the up position.
Anyway when I finally got to pick it up from Santander (I had freight roro for it) I found
that I needed to remove the arms as the 204E's are longer than my 204S so couldn't
close the tail ramp.
Arrived home unloaded the tractor went for spin, played with the front loader as it's got
a 4in1 fitted (handy). I then tried fitting my woodchipper, that's when I found the lifters
didn't work, so was slightly pee'd off but needed to find out why. Well after several hours
of dithering and wondering decided to dismantle all items that allowed me to gain access
to the hydraulics. Found that the cylinder had moved back around 2", so there was failure
without doubt but how/where?
I removed the gearstick housing forward of the valve on front of the hydraulics casing then
the cylinder. Pondered over it, looked time and time again, even got the wife to look at it
thinking she could give me some kind of idea (you know fresh pair of eyes looking at it) no
such luck. Had to go to UK for a few days, wife says why don't you go to Siromer and ask,
so returned to Spain gathered up the the offending parts went back to England.
Monday found me knocking at Siromer Tractors' door and met with Louise, had a chat
( she is a very informed young lady) and together we arrived at the same conclusion.......

Part 2 after I have had a coffee.

Wrong cylinder end cap supplied and bodged to fit, the reason was that there are 3 different
end caps, what amazes me is, all the work that this moron fitter had to do to access the failed
parts, but didn't check out replacement parts, so bodged the job then rebuilt all items removed.

Like I said earlier, if it wasn't for my wife I'd probably still be scratching the bald spot and fretting
until I thought about visiting Siromer sometime in the future, equally thanks to Louise who must
be credited for helping out.
The good news is that my 204E is now operating as should.
