Hi guys.
My first post on here having joined years ago!
I repair garden machinery & smallholding equipment for a living - but this one has got me puzzled - its a siromer 204s with yiangdong 3cyl 20hp engine - the pre heaters all get power & seem to be working on the basis that without pre heating the engine just cranks emitting no smoke and doesn't start - with pre heating it cranks - emits grey smoke - getting quicker and quicker - eventually maintaining fast cranking speed on its own while emitting this grey / white smoke, on one occasion while it chugged along for a bit I managed to slacken no 3 cyl and got diesel - not much difference to engine running - tried the same on no 1 and it stopped. Which makes me think it might be valve clearances on no 3 pos even no 2 as well - couldn't check today as someone has sealed the rocker cover with silicone!
Have tried all the bleed screws in and out of pump and on top side of pump, diesel present at all points - if there was none I doubt i would get the smoke.
So I am kind of suspecting valve clearances (or a compression leak), faulty injectors or injector pump. There is no water in the oil and no pressuring of the radiator so the head gasket not leaking to these points although between 2 and 3 could be a possibility - think I need to make an adaptor for my compression tester.
There are no guts to its running - it just sounds limp and powerless, oh and opening the throttle stops it dead!
On the valve clearances front - does anyone have the proper specs - I was going to guess at 10 thou In and 12 thou ex, finding info on this engine seems sparse at best.
Open to any suggestions.
