Six volt positive ground question

/ Six volt positive ground question #21
I have a 1960 Farmall 240 and has a 6-volt. I was wondering if that model has the positive ground? My battery wont hold a big enough charge to turn the motor over. The battery isn't even a year old so it cant be that. I bought the tractor 3 years ago and im wondering if the previous owner swapped the cables to a negative ground not knowing what he was doing. Can anyone give me a little advice on it?

Which terminal on the battery is connected to the frame or engine block?

Do you have a multimeter?

There is a lot of good information in this very old thread that you reopened.

I like the advice on the big battery cables from DJ54. I once had a tractor with a small automomotive ground cable and it wouldn't consistently turn the motor over. Had to have a plug in charge. I tried nearly everything before getting a heavy ground cable. It seemed to solve the problem. We sold the tractor shortly after and I've been wondering for over 40 years whether it was a permanent fix.
