Ag tires, would 5' or 6' KK type box blade be best for leveling cleared spots in rocky woods soil and work on 1200' gravel drive?

Never tried a 6' but I have a 5' with the CK30 hst and it never bats an eye at anything. I would bet the 6' would be fine.

Thanks, Jimmy. I LIKE the idea of never batting an eye. I have a 5' KK Tiller which does just fine, no bats there either.

I have a CK35 HST (new last year) and got a 6 foot box blade earlier this year. I do a driveway that is about 3000 feet and it works just fine. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how well it graded and filled in the many potholes. I used to spend hours hauling gravel and manually filling in the many potholes, one of the best things I have done is get the tractor with Woods backhoe and now the box blade.

Thanks, Mousefield.

That is a lot of what I would be doing. How do you think your setup would work ripping up roots and rocks etc making a level spot in the woods?

Do you think you'd want a five foot one, or would the six foot take it on?

Get a 5 footer. If you don't you will spill your beer when that extra wide box blade snags a tree as you are running through the woods.

HIghbeam! How did you know? I guess cause I think you were the first guy I talked to here several years ago! I didn't think it was that obvious, though.

Thanks.

I have only run my box blade on the road. If I was looking at going into the bush I think you might want to go with a 5 foot. Of course it all depends on how many roots/rocks etc you will snag, could get hard on the machine. As I have a Woods backhoe I would use it first to get any big rocks and roots out. I use my tractor but trying to be carefully not to abuse it. You are the best judge on what is on/in the ground. I have made a rough road in some of my heavily wooded area for my wife to walk with her goats but used the backhoe and front bucket for that. Don稚 have many rocks on our place but lots of trees and brush on the ground, find the backhoe it great for moving it to make a path.

R1's in the woods "trying" to pull up roots go with a 5 footer to maximize your power. I have a 6 ft Taylor Pittsburg on my CK25HST, it will bring me to a halt quickly when I snag a root.
