John Deere 3320
Hey guys.
I'm looking at trading my John Deere 2520 in for something bigger.
I know JD frame sizes well but the Bobcat dealer is a little ways away so i figured i would collect some info here.

The CT440 and the 450 are they on the same frame just with different HP?

I'm guessing the frame sizes go 2XX smallest 3XX middle 4XX largest is this true?
So if i got a CT440 cab it's the same size as the 450 cab.

What i'm comparing it with is the John Deere 4X20 series.
Trouble with Deere is you have to step up to the 48hp 4320 to get a cab where as the ct440 is cheaper less hp but still has a cab. Does anyone know if the 4XX bobcat is close in size to the 4320 Deere?

If they are the same the price difference and the 0% for 72mo Deere can't touch.
How happy are you guys with the over all quality of the machine how does it compare to the Deere?

Thanks :)

Yes, I beleive the 440 and 450 is the same frame size with different HP. I am sure someone who knows more will chime in.

The smallest BC is the CT122.

I don't know much about JD other than when I bought my CT230, I was looking at a much smaller size tractor in green and also red and would have still paid more money for either of them and would not have gotten near the tractor I have now.

I believe you can get the cab for the CT335 also.

I only have about 400hrs on mine but so far I an very happy with it. I have not had any mechanical issues with it other than the fuel pump went out while still under warranty. The only thing that could be better on the tractor is the paint. Most of us have noticed that paint is very thin and my tractor has a few minor rust spots on it which I was aware of when I bought it but I could not pass up the price.

If I were you, I would print out a spec sheet on both JD and BC models you are comparing and compare the two. I think you will find the BC comes with more features standard and is less money.

The ct335 is in its own size class...I don't know why but it is a touch smaller than the 4 series...and can have the factory cab...only from the factory though, the dealer installed cabs are simms cabs...arrrg!!!

I'd go 4 series...my 335 is great but really if you have the choice go for the 4 series!

Thanks for the info guys
test driving is next.

Will drive the 3320 4320 Deere and the bobcat counterparts.

The 440, 445, & 450 are exactly same frame with different HP. 335 is same rear frame, transmission, pumps, etc. as the 400 models but shorter wheel base & lower HP.
200 series are all the same except engine HP. And the 122 is all by itself.

The 440 should be 41hp and the 445 should be 45hp. Unless you need the extra 4hp, the lower price on the 440 sure is nice being that they are the same size frame.
The 4320 should be 48hp and the weight with cab is within 100lbs. If you wanted to match hp, then the 450 is 49hp.

BR,

You will find that the 4X20 series will feel very similar to the Bobcat CT400 series. I have the Kioti DK40SE HST. The 40hp units are really the best bang for your buck!!! One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is the lift capacities of the loaders as well as the method of attachment for the bucket and other attachments.

I've found that the 400X as lift capacity of 2368 - had to search to find that....JD does not publish their loader specs. Make sure you compare apples to apples - "500MM in front of loader pins".....

As for the loader attachment....JD has a proprietary system which you may already be familiar with? When you step up I highly recommend going with a "quick attach" or as Bobcat calls it..."Bobtach". This means your loader can use a wide variety of attachments that were originally designed for skid steer/bobcat loaders. The Bobtach is standard! It is probably around $600 or more of an option on the JD.

The 335 model is a great value but I'd go straight to the CT400 series if it were me....that's what I did when comparing the Kioti models. I wanted more lift capacity. I love my DK40SE HST!!!!

I would expect you to find the Bobcat a much better value and bang for your buck in comparison.

Regardless, best wishes and looking forward to seeing some pics of your new machine!!!

Yup go for the 400 series to get the lifting power...machines awsome, I cleared 500 honest & measured feet through my forest for a fence line in 7 hours with just a bucket and root grapple for the front...no counter balance or tire weights... AWESOME machines!

i bought the 335 cause I saved $8000 on the price....$22500 to my door with some options...

Next time I'd want a cab, so i'd go to the 400 series with a cab...

Have fun shopping!!!! Its sooo exciting!!!

I've never owned a new vehicle but I've owned a new tractor!

One big difference tween the JD4320 and the BC4XX series is that the cab is alot larger and more spacious one the Bobcat. I've sat in both, and there is no comparison.:D

Awesome information guys. Thanks for all of it. It really helped me narrow things down a lot.
Saturday i'm hitting up both dealers. Found out the bobcat dealer is also Case IH so i might try their CUT also though i have not heard many good stories from people on the Case CUTS but i'll still look.

I love test driving stuff. I feel like a kid in a candy store when dealing shopping ha-ha. :D
