It's almost as still and quiet here as it is at home today, it's so blazing hot the animals have all bedded down in the shade somewhere and I don't think you could drag them out with the tractor. I let Elvis the mutt in, when it gets this hot he sometimes has these weird palsy incidents, shakes all over. He's just too old to deal with it. The pup can crawl under the porch where theres nice cool dirt to lie in. The cats are invisible. I long for the scent of fall on the air, I'm ready for this heat to go away.

Here in Wylie, Texas my temperature and weather site at the high school has a red 102 down in the corner of the screen. The Weatherbug thing is neat. It's just right now the thought of a hundred and two degrees is depressing.

I drove across the Metroplex today. I was in north Ft Worth and went to Bonham.

I appreciate the heat and tornados after such a trip. If we didn't have those I shudder to think how many new subdivisions would be going in. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Temperature wise, it's no where near the hundred mark but when it gets over seventy, with the amount of moisture there is in the air and no breeze, it's like slow clooking in a sauna.

Thanks Gary, the nice ladies at Signature Country made that for me, they'll make you one too if you ask them nice. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

same thing on this side of the gulf in houston ... when I drive to the country place 2.5 hours inland - the temp may be the same but you can feel the difference in just a small change in the humidity. Can't wait til we're out of the gulf basin ... and retired!

Did you ever notice that when it gets hot the gov't puts out warnings. Don't exercise, don't do strenuous activity etc.

But the animals - they don't need anyone to tell them this. They all hunker down or just lay around. It's us top o' the food chain smart humans that need to be told to just sit back 'cause its to hot out.

Yeah, I heard one of those a few years ago. Being the good citizen that I am, I heeded it immediately and have avoided exercise and strenuous activity ever since. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
