So call this a bit of a social experiment. When I was growing up I up used to shoot skeet and international skeet competitively. As I didn稚 have a very large family a lot of the folks I shot with were very much like family members to me. Looking back it seems to me that a fair number of those people would likely fit right in on this forum?.

So if you shot skeet from about 1989-1998 in the Southeastern region I知 kinda curious to see if we crossed paths or or knew each other. My name is Jason andI was pretty young while I was involved in skeet shooting, about 10-19 years old. Frank, my father was my coach and a lot of the time we were either tooling around in either a volvo station wagon, or older BMW.

I spent a lot of time at Skyway Trap and Skeet, MacDil AFB, Silver Dollar Trap and Golf, and Sarasota Trap and Skeet. I also shot at most all of the larger ranges in FL, as well as doing regional and national competitions. If by some chance you ever spent time out at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs there is probably a reasonable chance we crossed paths.

Anyways, just seeing if there were any familiar faces out there in TBN land. :D

FYI Mods if this belongs in the Front Porch forum please move it with my apologies. I figured that it might get a bit more exposure in the Rural Living forum

True, only made it out there once for a Junior World Championship, although I knew a couple of Army Marksmanship Unit folks from California.

Well I did have some pretty good calluses going on at one point. ;)

I never got into the sporting clays like some of my friends but I did grow up in that area of W. central FL (Pinellas gulf beaches)...one particular friend (since grade school/cub scouts) was the owner/operator of a large sporting clays club (now closed) somewhere just north of Tampa...I have sent him a message about the name of the club...I do know that he has lots of pictures and memorabilia from one member whose name you might recognize and (may ring a bell for the club)... Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf AKA "stormin Normin"...
BTW... He gave my friend a Benelli (over /under) I think...it is something...!

Does this club sound familiar ?

Very much so. If we're talking about the same facility it's name was Tampa Bay Sporting Clays. I actually have a couple of pictures of Gen. Schwarzkopf and myself shooting at the range at MacDil AFB as well as another of him cutting the cake for the birthday celebration of my girlfriend at the time (her dad was the range manager). I know I was acquainted with the general manager of Tampa Bay Sporting Clays, I'm just not sure if I met your friend or not.

Very cool to hear from someone who grew up in the Tampa area. I lived outside of Tarpon Springs and used to run all over the place, from pool halls in New Port Richey, to Ybor City, Clearwater Beach and Sarasota.

The only problem with skeet is, no matter how you cook them they stay crunchy and taste rather bland!:yuck:

If you "smoke" them right out of the house they are not crunchy at all.
