My ground is really rough here.

I don't have the hydraulic oil filter shield on my GC2310. I thought about buying it and putting it on, but it doesn't look like it really protects the filter/mid-PTO very well.

Has anyone made a skid-plate that covers the filter/mid-PTO? How hard/expensive was it to make? How did you attach it?

Depends on where you locate it where you make your holes. I don't have a mmm on mine,so I added a piece of angle iron to front bottom to partially close it,still allow filter to be removed. Also added a brace to one side up to frame as my would have movement with only one bolt per side. Another option is to contact a vendor like Brotek to see if they make an aftermarket shield. The shield or skidplate can also protect the plastic fan located on the driveshaft, that's expensive to replace if a stick breaks it. plowking

I made up one for a GC2300, and don't use the mid PTO. Used a piece of angle iron with dog ears welded on, that go to the outside of the frame. The mounting holes were the brake pivot bolt, and there was another existing hole on the opposite side of the frame. The brake pivot needed a longer bolt to sandwich the mount to the frame. The old bolt was used on the opposite side. A piece of plate was bent. The angle iron was fitted snug to the bottom of the frame so any weight transfer would go to the frame, not the bolts. Two nuts were welded to the angle iron to make installation/removal of the plate easier for serviciing. The plate was tapered in at the back so it wouldn't interfere with the brakes. Two bolts wre removed from the drawbar and replaced with longer ones. They were bolted on first, using the nuts as spacers to keep the plate from rubbing on the casing.. A hole was also drilled for the drain plug, to prevent any pressure on it. The plate was then bolted to the front bracket, then bolted to the extended threads of the bolts from the drawbar. No drilling on the frame or re-routing of hoses required. Only had to buy 3 new bolts. The rest came out of the scrap pile beside the barn .

If I ever had to use the mid PTO, I only have to remove 2 bolts, and 2 nuts and I'm ready to go.

DMW, Very nice, simple and efficient. You ought to consider marketing that. You could always cut a slot in it for those that use the mid-pto (like myself).
