I'm thinking about mounting a sheet of diamond plate straight across the bottom edge of the loader support arms from side to side, following the contour of the supports. Seems simple and effective enough. If I drill and tap small holes for mounting screws will I compromise the structural integrity of the supports enough to matter?

Look at the bottom of your trans/rear axle. Usually there are some threaded holes available. Used for factory assembly I'm guessing. Make some brackets that fasten there and then fasten the plate to the brackets.

Small screws won't work if the plate is truly needed. They'll just shear off.

Don't shortcut this process. You'll end up damaging the very things you are trying to protect.

Post some pics when you get started. Advice and ideas are helpful and will be plentiful. :)

Sure wish someone sold them, we seem to stay covered up. My brother is finishing up on a restoration of a 69 VW for a friend who looked out after mom in her later years. Those things are getting scarce.
