Good Evening All,

I just completed my 300 hour maintenance schedule for my MF GC2300. While installing the transmission filter I noticed the plastic fan is missing a couple of blades.
First question How hard is it to replace?
Second Question I heard there is a skid plate to protect your trans filter & fan, where do I get one?
Third Question Do they make a blade other than plastic?

Thanks
Dan

Hey there Dan it's not that big of a deal to change you can do it yourself if you have mechanical ability. You'll have to remove the floor pan [where you put your feet] In order to do that remove the cover under the dash belive it has 6 screws holding it.Once you have that off unbolt the floor.first you'll have to take the rubber matting of.The plastic holders can be removed with a wonder bar.Take the knobs off that are used for adjusting the mower height and hydralic TPH control.Once you have the floor pan off.Oh yeah you'll have to also take the two relays off on the left side of the steering tower to let you beable to take the floor pan off it gives you more wiggle room.Once the floor pan is off you'll have easy access to the fan.Take the 2 bolts off that hold the fan on to the PTO remove the pinch bolt slide the pto shaft towards the tractor motor and replace the fan. Its not a major undertaking no need to take tires off no need to jack anything up not bad at all to do.I haven't broke the fan but what I did was take all my shafts off and take the u-joints apart and grease them as there's no grease fittings and at the same time I did all the splined shafts. The only U joint I didn't do was the one right off the motor. Its surprising how rusty all the splines where and how little gerase was in the joints. But like I say its not a big job.To do. As for a metal fan don't think so plastic will do.Make a fan guard if you can.I haven't made one yet but thats next on my to do list.Finished making a filter and hydro trans guard, also made a skid plate that bolts onto the fliter guard and hitch thus protecting the underside of the trans. next is make the fan guard. :(I just crawled under my gc2300 and took a look at the fan.I belive you won't have to do all what I mentioned in my last post.I'am pretty sure all you'll have to do from under the tractor is take off the 2 bolts 10mm head that hold the fan onto the plate and remove the pinch bolt from the driveshaft yoke slide the shaft towards the front and the fan will drop down into your hands,or face. I had done what I did to mine inorder to remove the hydro unit for repair.Sorry about the above post this will be the quicker and easier way.Larry:D

:cool:If you want you can make your own:rolleyes:I just posted in the massey forum gc2300 filter, hydro, skid, fan guard. I also believe you can buy a filter guard plate from Massey.Don't know of anyone yet who has made a fan protector or skid plate yet.Bro tec has said that he's working on that stuff but not sure if he's made any yet.:DLarry

Thanks for the input Larry... I checked your other post. I will checking on the fan replacement this weekend, as long as we don't get another 12 inches of snow!!!

bedrock- from judging from massey driver experience, you are one lucky dude. IF you do a search on kubota BX's and fan's there are threads after threads about this. they too have issues on replacement. the rops needs removal and engine needs to be moved forward!!

Also there are many threads in kubota BX's about skid plates, I suggest taking a look at those threads to get an idea on making one. The MF GC and kubota BX looks too simalar!
