Im hoping im an idiot and someone will set me straight. Im about to buy a MF 1552 with 1530 loader. It does not, however, have the ssqa front. The place I am buying it from said there were adaptor plates for a couple hundred. My searching seems to show more in the 1000-1700 range. Am I not looking at the right thing?

My goal is to put a grapple on the front, which uses the SSQA

While their price estimate seems low, They most likely are referring to build your own kits where you have to supply additional steel for making 2 ssqa latching units fit your tractor. You might be able to use your pin brackets from your bucket as part of the build. Depending on if you have access to ‘scrape’ steel and if you can do your own fab and welding, you can reduce that $1700 quite a bit. If you need to have someone do the fab and welding, spend the $1700!

Contact this vendor for your specific model. You will need to mod/replace bucket also. You mentioned a grapple, you will need a 3rd function added (best-all loader functions on joystick) or run it from an existing rear remote.

I dont think he was bsing. Its a guy that buys and sells tractors and equipment. He said a few hundred. 800 is a few to some people or maybe he didnt know. If im getting the tractor size/options that i want, for a price below what i was expecting, even if it costs almost $1k...whats wrong with converting to skid steer? Not arguing, asking the question

You'll have to convert the front pins area on your loader arms. This is where the conversion mounting plate will go with the actual quick attach levers on it. Then you'll have to either modify (think welding-fabbing) an adapter plate to your existing dirt bucket so it will now mount up to your new SSQA converted loader arms, or you'll have to buy a separate SSQA dirt bucket.

Not really a big deal, but there you go. Maybe your buddy can find you a good deal on a used SSQA dirt bucket and "sell" him back your pinned bucket?

Thanks. Not a buddy, but i know him. Cutting off the old tabs and welding the bracket on the back of the bucket isnt that big of a deal either. I have the cutting/welding equipment to do it. Just didnt know if there was some practical reason not to convert it or to buy a pinned bucket

It's just a head ache you don't need to deal with since you already know where the tractor is now and where you wanna go. Don't do it.

This. Plus I would be worried about what other features it doesn't have that are important.

Practical reasons for pin on bucket
#1 cost approx $1000 cheaper
#2 weight lift arms can lift extra steel or actual material in bucket
#3 additional money saved when you can't buy the shinny new ssqa attachment that will make life easier and tractor more useful

Not sure where you are at in the tractor purchase or the conversion to ssqa process. As of yet I have not converted mine, but continue the debate.
You indicated you have the equipment to cut the brackets off the bucket and mount them to brackets. So if the purchase is in your opinion worth what time and money you need to put into the project versus just buying ready to mount adapters, go for it. There are lots of threads here as well as youTube videos on doing just this.
Be sure to add in supports before you remove your bucket brackets for the pins or cut out the back of the bucket葉he positioning of spacing needs to be maintained. The bucket can be patched if you plan to put a plate on it to use with the ssqa.
Let us know your progress.
