Hey JD Folk,

Now that you have all helped me with the rear three point issue, has anyone converted to their bucket to a skid steer quick attach. Does Deere offer a change over setup, or should I look into an ATI quick-tach system?

I have a set of clamp on forks and would really like to get real forks sometime. Also I beleive the original owner changed over to the turf tires I got the tractor with, from ags, as the bucket is 74" and the paint is really faded, much worse than the rest of the tractor. I feel I would be better served by ag tires as well as the narrower profile for work in the woods, but will need a 60" bucket.

It just seems like a worthy investment at some point. Heck it's winter, may as well get all the info I can now, it's 2degrees outside right now.

The modern universal skid steer setup seems to open a huge amount of possibilities.

Thanks, Rigby

Your loader should already have the JD version Quick-Attach, and there are forks and other things available to fit it. But if you really want the SS style, then I think the ATI is your best choice.

Hi KennyD,

My loader pins on one to the loader arms and the others to the cylinders.

Thanks Rigby

I have the skid steer attach on mine. One of the best investments that I have made. I would not be without it.

Rigby, your 440 FEL ain't a quick-tach one, huh? I had the earlier model 80 FEL on my 970 and the bucket was like you described -- pinned to the cylinder on top and pinned to the loader arms on the bottom of the bucket.

The skid-steer option would be a sweet addition; no doubt about it. No experience with the ATI option, though.

I got my hands on the JD quick-hitch and found it to be well worth the money. I'm sure that Pat's or the Landpride versions are a good investment as well. Sure saves on the aggravation of fightin' the 3pt every time you want to switch attachments.

Although, I soon discovered that not all implements are created "quick-tach equal". That is -- not everything you want to use with the quick hitch will fit and the older the attachment is the less likely it will be that you can just hook it up and go-- I have had to re-drill mounting holes and readjust pin locations to make things work. (But that's just another perk of owning a tractor...)

Went to R1's with my 970, too. Had to buy the rims and the whole shootin' match, though. Those turfs will work in the woods but as soon as it gets a little wet those tires will fill up a turn to "slicks". Had to keep my chains on in the summer to muck around in the woods for stump work and brush removal. That got old -- so, I got some Ag tires last year and gained probably 4 inches in height and with the 8-position rears pretty much the same width (maybe a bit more) than the turfs.

Your tractor will spin off all kinds of projects for ya'! Pretty soon you'll be thinkin' of a pond and larger food plots and... and...

Bustin' rocks! Whoee! You're probably gettin' 3,400-3,500 fps with a 210 or 225 grain bullet, huh? Good thing it weighs 27lbs!

Got a fine Dall sheep this past fall at just a shade over 500 yds. Last day of the hunt and a give it yur best or just hang it up situation. Not something I ever set out to do... Worked out, though --- clean and quick thru the front shoulder with my plain jane .270.
